Look out, I'm shedding pounds!

Hi all, I am 58, currently sharing an apartment with my cat Chandra. I grew up loving to camp, swim, and hike, as well as I rode my bike to get to a lot of places I needed to go. I have a son and daughter, as well as two grandchildren whom all live within two hours of my place.

Hi all, I am 58, currently sharing an apartment with my cat Chandra. I grew up loving to camp, swim, and hike, as well as I rode my bike to get to a lot of places I needed to go. I have a son and daughter, as well as two grandchildren whom all live within two hours of my place.

I put on weight with both pregnancies, and never managed to get down past 155, at which point I had a major gallbladder attack and had to have it removed. After that I regained most of the weight I had lost, and over the years lost a bit and gained a bit on that weight loss yoyo that seems to be typical of a lot of us.

I have had some major life changing events over the past few years which have caused my weight to creep close to my all time high of 265. My knees have been getting worse with every pound that crept on, from osteoarthritis, to the point where I had to resort to a cane at times as well as much more frequently a knee brace for whichever knee was worse. Add to that a bladder sling surgery that also combined a hysterectomy and front/back wall repair, which has left me with a no lifting more than 20 pounds for life and most exercise has gone out the window.

I am determined this time to get to my goal weight of 150, knowing that to get to 134 which was how much I weighed when I got married, is not realistic at my age. I may change my mind once I am at and have maintained the 150 mark, but only time will tell on that.

*Get from 233 to 150 by July 2013
**Get my Blood Glucose levels into a normal range
***Lower my blood pressure to normal range.
****Walk or run a 10 Km
*****Cut snacking, and the amounts, of pop and chips down to once or twice a month, as a treat
******Reduce my knee pain



My Program:
Track my daily nutritional intake here.

Drink 8 oz of water daily

Walk at least 30 minutes 5 times a week, or more

Do resistance band workouts 3 to 4 times a week

Blog at least once a week

thanks for your comment. actually to clarify, I am actually prepping for a Half Ironman triathlon with is 70.3 miles total. it is 3 separate events in one day. The swim is 1.2 miles, the bike is 56 miles and the run is 13.1 miles and you have 8.5 hours to finish. each leg has its own timed cutoffs so if you dont make the time for the swim, the bike or the run, your event is over.

So far my biking distance record is 75 miles in 5 hours. Im looking to break 100 this year one im done training for this tri.

Thanks for the friend add, and the comment on my blog. I see one of your pictures was taken on the Bruce Trail, which I'm assuming is on the Bruce Peninsula? We have visited Owen Sound. Are you near there?
