42 – DON’T PANIC
Not many people are Douglas Adams fans (at least no one I know) but I have always loved all of his books. In the Hitchhiker series Arthur and Ford learn that the answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything is 42. What the exact question is no one knows; once when asked about it Douglas Adams said, “I sat at my desk, stared into the garden and thought '42 will do.' I typed it out. End of story”. I agree, 42 will do. So that is my new goal starting today – 42 pounds ...
So that is my new goal starting today – 42 pounds lost in no more than 42 weeks. I realize that is a long time and not a lot of weight to loose in that amount of time, but this go round I want to set myself up for success so there will be no stress involved. Less time is better, more weight is better, but 42 will do. I will also employ the one key ingredient to the Hitchhikers series: DON’T PANIC. In the series, DON’T PANIC is a phrase written on the cover of the “The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. The novel explains that this was partly because the device "looked insanely complicated" to operate, and partly to keep intergalactic travelers from, well, panicking. I feel that this is a large part of any weight loss journey – the key is to not panic about the small stuff, the large stuff or any stuff. So off I go promising to always Know Where My Towel Is. ________________________________________ ____ December 30, 2009 - Well I deleted all my goals and rewards from my page since I didn't meet hardly any of them. A lot has happened to me since I wrote them and I didn't do so well. But I am NOT giving up. I will still reach my June 23 goal of loosing another 42 pounds, I just need to work a little harder! So my plan is to get back to where I was when I started this. Walking 5-6 days a week, yoga once or twice a week, water aerobics twice a week. I can do this!
