Taking Control

This is me, unedited and for once talking openly about my weight issues.

My name is Ayla. I'm 23, happily married and I live in Canada. I've always had weight issues and I've always been in the "overweight" category. I guess that sort of created a sense of complacency within myself, because I never really considered losing weight, or if I did it was more of a fantasy situation... a "what if I could change this?" type scenerio that would last a little while then pass.

I guess that sort of created a sense of complacency within myself, because I never really considered losing weight, or if I did it was more of a fantasy situation... a "what if I could change this?" type scenerio that would last a little while then pass.

Now my focus is on taking control of my health, my body and my life. I had a epiphany in February 2008. I weighed around 190 at that time and I'm sure the numbers had previously crept dangerously close to the 200 mark at my heaviest. I was unhappy, over tired and FINALLY fed up with it all. A moments consideration of losing weight turned into something that ate away at me, until I found Sparkpeople. My friend Suzy had joined and told me about it. From the second I found this place, I was in love. I am now proud to say that I am addicted to a healthy life style. The energy I have, the way I feel and the way things fit all give me a natural high that nothing else can compare to! I am proud of how far I have come and I know I can make it the rest of the way!

For my personal goal I currently have it set to 135 lbs but ultimately I'll settle for where I feel I look and feel the best. I am 5'7 so, according to a consultation with a personal trainer, anywhere between 120-160 is a healthy bmi for me. Also according to various websites my ideal weight for my height and frame is anywhere from 133-147. So cheer me on SP land! We can do it!

I'm totally in the middle of climbing back out of bad habits. I was doing really well for about 3 weeks (starting stage) and then I just said screw it and stopped exercising and ate bad food! I gained 3 lbs back. BUT I'm not letting that stop me. I was watching the Biggest Loser the other night and I thought- OK I have 30lbs to lose...these people have much more...I can do this!

Keep doing what you are doing too! You're doing great! emoticon
