Training for Indy!

Hi, I'm Beth! I'm 34 years old and the mom of four wonderful children! I have been a member of Spark for over 4 years now and just love it here.

I love & need support and encouragement that Spark offers. With four children and going to school full-time it can be very busy and very stressful.

Right now I am in full-swing training to run my first half marathon on May 3rd with my BFF. I am also starting Turbo Fire on 2/3/14.

My Goals:
To live a healthy & happy life! I want to drop the weight from my pregnancy plus an additional 20 lbs. My goal weight range is 150 - 160.

My Program:
At LEAST 10 minutes of exercise daily! Once you hit 10, who wants to stop?!
I had always stuck to a pretty clean diet, but since the birth of my baby girl in January I have not followed that plan as well. I still try to stick to lean meats, whole grains, fresh and tasty fruits & veggies and other healthy proteins!

Personal Information:
My family and I live in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, PA. I love it here, and although I did not grow up here, I'm glad to be here now and I love this city! Go Steelers & Go Penguins! I think we have a baseball team too...
I'm currently enrolled in on-line college, University of Phoenix. I received my associates in Health Care Administration in June 2012, and am now working on my bachelor degree. I will graduate in 2014.

Other Information:
I have 4 wonderful children. My oldest daughter is 16, sons are 12 and 4 and my baby girl was just born in January 2013. My kids and my hubby are my life, and I'm super content with that :)

I also LOVE music...all types, and it's great to have during my workouts...it ups my mood & keeps me going!

Good afternoon :)

So yesterday my dad did get to leave. I went and picked him up around 11 and took him home. Did some grocery shopping for them and then took off.

He is doing good. Healing. I need to get some dinners made for him though. Linda says she barely has the strength to cook. Oh by the way, she started smoking again... go figure.

How did your hair turn out? My phones back on btw :)

I've got a soccer game tonight and I'm also gonna do a 9R with Lz (my new abbreviation for her) ;) haha

I haven't figured out dinner yet. Pizza sounds good though. Papa Murphey's? I think that;s pretty clean maybe. Except for the sauce and pizza dough ... but sometimes you know I think it's okay to eat that. No worries. Moderation right? :)

Ttyl, enjoy the evening, and lucky you for your summer jump start sun burn! lol The worst part of beginning summer has got to be the awkward appearance of pasty everything and getting that base tan going. I'll be golden olive sooooon as I get the guts to go out and blind everyone! emoticon

Girl, you're too young to be doing that dye thing!!!

You're friend is probably right, you need to tone down a little before your race. You might want to get some extra protein and carbs around race time as well. You may want to check into that. I have heard that you need carbs to do well. I don't know as I try to stay as far away from those darn things as I can. Every time I have even one I gain, like 3 pounds. Are you doing stretches for your shin? They have some really good ones on the exercise pages here on Spark. I was having shin splints all the time when I first started jogging and now I never have them. I do the stretches almost every day.

Thanks for the prayers. That family is devastated. I'm so glad you have gone back to church. It really is helpful to be around supportive people. You do know if you ever need to talk, you can sparkmail me. I don't know if I would be of any help, but sometimes it just helps to write things down. Also, know that I would never repeat anything you tell me, I'm just not that type of person. That is something I hate and wouldn't do to others.

Alright, I better get dressed, spending too much time sparking today. It's almost time for bible study. We have the best study, today is a video by Beth Moore. I highly recommend her studies and books, they are all great. She knows how to talk in my language.

You can ramble on my page anytime, I always enjoy seeing you. You're right, that fire could have been so much worse. You're blessed that you all got out safe. This young man was well known in our area, the kids are all wearing white to school today.

Running today? You're doing so awesome. You're really inspiring. I'm pretty excited about your race, can't wait to hear how it went when it happens.

Good Morning! Haven't heard much talk from you about the Pens, have you too much on your plate these days? LOL. Also, Pirates got a good player in Ike Davis. He was inconsistent and then not given a chance here in the big city. Hope he can flourish for you. Besides wearing my number 29, I liked him a lot. Keep up the good work. Put those sneakers on and Run, Forrest, Run!
