A Healthy New Me

In March 2013, I had gotten sick of being unhealthy. I was unenergetic, stressed, and felt...well...fat. I decided to do something about it, so I joined Sparkpeople. My goal, instead of getting "skinny" was to become healthier and feel better.

Since then, I've come a long way! I have tons more energy, feel less stressed, and truly appreciate my body. I've found the joy of making creative and healthy meals, which has really helped me stay on track.

I've been maintaining since June 2014. I'm quite happy with the way my body now looks and feels, so my goal now is to learn how to maintain and eat intuitively.

My Goals:
Maintain a weight between 137 and 143, with my goal weight being 140.

Trust myself when I feel that I can let go of certain "rules" that I created while losing weight.

Track all food at least 5 days a week.

Relax and enjoy myself when in social eating situations. At the same time, don't overeat to the point I am no longer enjoying my food or the way my body feels.


My Program:
I take a bootcamp class on Mondays and Fridays that mixes weight training and cardio. I also do "at-home bootcamp" on Wednesdays. Each of these are about an hour long.

Tuesdays and Thursdays are my recovery days. I do cardio exercises for about 40 minutes. I do a few of Jessica Smith's walking workouts, as well as some kickboxing and HIIT.

Saturdays are my rest days. I take a gentle yoga class to help stretch my body and clear my mind.

Sundays are a bit more intense cardio days, with about 50 minutes of exercise. I'm currently doing a HIIT workout and a Jessica Smith walk on Sundays.

Personal Information:
I'm from Michigan, and I have been married since December 2010. We have a sweet doggie named Winter who is the light of my life. My husband and I are currently trying to start a family!

Thanks for your sweet and thoughtful comment again! So blessed to have you as a friend!!! Yes, you SHOULD do s'mores indoors! Normally, when I've been desperate, I've just took out a lighter and lit it up... but it is kinda more fun putting it on a stick and setting it aflame via unscented candle. Not as good as bonfire, but if that's as close as I'm gonna get... I'll take it! :-)

I BET it's way cold in Michigan!!! Geez! It's chilly here...like in the 40's...and that's COLD for us! I have a brother who lives in Montana and it's like... 4 degrees there, I'm like... WHOA. I do miss snow though. Hoping to see some for thanksgiving when I visit family in Ohio! :-)

You're totally right! It is very fascinating that just changing MY habits around the house as totally benefited the "family" (my hubby in particular). I'm not even crazy or anything... I just keep our portions down and make RELATIVELY HEALTHY and balanced meals... and I measure stuff for him like his Goldfish or Crackers he likes to eat... and the nuts we eat daily. So cool, right?

I think things aren't horrible with the BIL in the house... he's definitely gracious as you mentioned, but it IS hard in the sense that I feel like I have obligations now to be a good host...and sometimes I get concerned of him "being in the way". Is that mean to think? I don't think he'll be here long, so I'll deal... but I am glad you can understand where I'm coming from!

Thanks for the words of encouragement on my exercising (or lack thereof). I'm gonna get there! Tomorrow is the day I find out what's up! I'm excited to find out! I have no clue what to expect, honestly... but just hoping for a solution of sorts.

I love walking as well! I've actually heard a lot of people say they love Kathy Smith workouts, but I have yet to try one. I'll have to check it out! I like Cathe but hers tend to be a little long for my taste, so I mostly do step workouts on YouTube, you should check out Jenny Ford! She has a ton of fun step workouts for free there. Yesterday was one on YouTube that was posted by Workout Hotel...it's kind of a homemade video but I love the music and the steps! I also have step DVDs of Seasun Zieger and Tonya Larson. It's hard to find current step workouts sometimes! Thanks for commenting on my blog! =)

Thank you for your nice comments on my blog! I haven't tried a chiropractor, but maybe that's something I should look into! You are so right about the workouts, I don't think I've ever felt that bothered by missing them (usually I make excuses not to workout) but with my routine right now I LOVE it and that is such a good feeling! By the way, the Yoplait pumpkin pie yogurt was spot on and delicious! ;)

I was right, my fitbit was not syncing with my phone. Some reason the bluetooth on my phone got turned off at some point, probably to save battery or something and never got turned back on. So, hopefully now it will update.

I think I will take your advice and combine it with what I like doing. I will see what fitbit recommends for my calorie intake and change my SP goals to match it. Also, I've noticed that Sparkpeople's recommendations for Carbs/Fat/Protein are off, you and I have talked about that before. Should be 50% carbs, 30% fat, and 20% protein. The ranges they give are too low on the low end and too high on the high end for me. So, I'm narrowing the range, going to explain on my next blog, I think.
