By learning to eat healthier, hopefully I will be healthier, and reap some of the rewards by accomplishing that. I love walking and biking. I also enjoy the outdoors, volunteering, being with family and friends, reading, doing puzzles. I am just learning to enjoy these things again after a long period of doing none of these due to health, and circumstances in my life. I am hoping to be able to start "living" again, and feel I am off to a good start by joining Sparkpeople, for I feel a new "spark" in my life that has not been there for a very long time.

My Goals:
Since I've joined SP, I have been able to accomplish some of these goals that I have listed..I've lost 7 lbs., and am maintaining. I am eating so much healthier, eating some foods that I never thought I ever would. My exercise minutes has gone up, and I am really feeling so much healthier. (These were my goals when I joined SP.... to lose 7 lbs., learn healthier eating, build walking to 10,000 steps a day, and overall, take better care of myself, as I have learned, that no one can do it for me!!


My Program:
Walking everyday, (slowly increasing), logging into SP everyday, eating required amounts daily, daily readings, rewarding myself if I do a "good" job, organize something in my life, whether big or small, personal, or otherwise.



Personal Information:
My name is Barb. I am 64, divorced, and have no children. I am, however, a foster grandma to 125 fifth graders. This is my fourth year, & I have found it to be one of the best things to happen to me in a long, long time. I cannot tell you how much those kids have done for me. Compared to a few years ago, my life has turned around completely-all for the best. Meeting & becoming friends here on SP has also made a HUGE difference in my life...I never thought it was possible to have so many caring, supportive friends. Some have become like "sisters" to me..


Other Information:
I am from East Grand Forks, MN. Even though it can be "bitterly" cold in the winter, I love living here and enjoy all 4 seasons!
I love to go biking, enjoy walking, working out, being outdoors, flowers, reading, spending time with friends, volunteering, going to rummage sales & thrift stores, and I love football, and hockey, and am an avid fan of MN VIKINGS & MN WILD!!
I also love to read Mysteries (James Patterson, Patricia Cornwell, John Sanford just to name a few)

    Remember just because it is a Holiday Weekend doesn't mean you can't have a good time and stay on track... just watch be sure to weight the hamburger meat out to 3-4 ounces, layer it with plenty of veggies like lettuce, cucumbers, onions, radishes or your favorites!! Try adding some grilled vegetables to the list... Family BBQ's can be the greatest way to get your family on board to trying fresh grilled vegetables and "Yes" even grilled "Fruits"... Try gilled fruit and veggie kabobs... along with your favorite salsa. Even visit Chef Meg for some of her favorite recipes for grilling!!

    Remember to Plan for those desserts to, no more than 1/8th of a slice if you put it on your tracker!! You should have plenty of room for it!! Let's be Happy with our choices, not sorry about it later! emoticon
