Getting Through It

I am a 28 year old currently in the process of moving from Texas to Colorado. I have been a public school art teacher for 5 years and am taking a year off to try my hand at illustration and just see where that path takes me. Also going to try and get a fresh start and handle on my health while I'm up there, wish me luck!

I am currently trying to prepare myself to climb a 14er in August with some friends...problem: these friends are all super fit and I spend my free time drawing and reading. :( So, as much as I hate running, I've tried to pick it up and stay active this summer so that I don't slow them down as horribly. Been going for a mile run once or twice a day, trying to slowly inch my way up to the two mile run mark. Probably won't push myself much harder than that as I'm really looking more for the stamina required to hike rather than just pushing myself to run more miles (and possibly permanently damage my knees! That would be awful for hiking). I only have about four weeks left to prepare, I hope it's enough time!

My Goals:
To be comfortable in my own skin.

My Program:
I try to work out a few times a week and stay away from unnatural sugars (sodas, candy, sugar cereal, pastries, etc...) and (trans)fatty foods. Lots of fruits and veggies consumed here. :)

Personal Information:
Moving up to Colorado in the fall, should be pretty easy to stay active up there. :)

Thanks for the comment on my blog. Everything you said is so true and sometimes, I just forget. I completely agree that when I get in a rut, i need to not look at it as a failure, I need to look at it as my need to change my routine. emoticon
