Hi folks, I'm Batman54, Batman for short.

My real name is Pat, and I'm a 50+ male living in CAMBRIDGE, Ontario.

I have a very supportive wife, Boni, and two grown children.

Weight has always been an issue in my life, as usually I've hovered around 210, on a 5'9" frame.

Over the last 5-6 years I've gradually packed on more, topping out at 240 just before I joined Sparkpeople.

I'm excited to have started.

I plan to diet you the principles of "You on a Diet"

It's not a drastic diet but rather a sensible lifetime eating plan.

Naturally, like most guys here on Sparkpeople, I've had a lot of empty calories with beer and chips etc. I hope to turn that around.

As for exercise, I'm blessed with a number of great trails here, so I plan to do a C25K Run Program gradually running for about 30 minutes on alternate days. On the off days I'm doing the 100 Pushups program. It's a progressive 8 week program that gradually get you to be able to do 100 pushups non stop.

You start out in small sets and gradually build up.

I think the combination of the two plans makes a overall program that covers both strength and aerobic power, as well as upper and lower body.

I don't want to over do it and get injured, nor do I want to over plan this at such an early stage.

Then Couch to 5 K run / Walk Program

    Hi Pat,

    I saw your post that you lost weight on Dash Diet. Congratulations. I was able to check out library dvd about diet while waiting for book. Dvd did not explain different phases of diet. I know from facebook DD group that there is phase 1 and 2 of this diet. Is fruit disallowed allowed on phase 1 or can we eat berries or low carb fruits? I planned to start diet yesterday but unsure about what I can eat on phase 1 or how long to stay on this phase.
