I did it...again...and again...and again!

My name is Brenda. I am 41. I have 2 boys, 20 and 14. I have high cholesterol and a family history of heart disease so I wanted to lose weight, eat healthier, and get more exercise. I love that there is so much support and information right here. It helped a lot. I've lost weight before, but never kept it off for very long. I've lost the weight and met my goal (several times)! Now if I can just get back to goal weight and figure out how to maintain it...

I am taking fenofibrate it is a generic I am happy to say. I tried it a long time refusing medication. I have tried otheres but this has done wonders with my Triglycerides. They were my big problem.
Exercise i do beleive has helped my HDL to begin to go up.
I also made certain I fasted the same way every time. I did a 14 hour fast and just before i went to the lab I did drink a half cup of water so i was not totally dehydrated. Take care there is a lot to learn . Pat in Maine. emoticon emoticon emoticon

You sure are off to a good start. I read your post after mine and wrote there but once I saw you can do this i decided to butt in and I put it here too. That way I was sure you would read it. I think you might have to buy snack and goodies for the kids. They are both old enough now to be able to help you. You MIGHT be able to help them eat properly. Pat in Maine. Testing with all of your results staring at you has to be the best time to start. That was what happened with me, my wake up call was the type 2 diabetes. I never heard of it in England in my family so i never thought about it. When a good friend developed complications form it, I knew the time had come to make me and my health a priority.
I hope you can keep your health the priority not so much the scale. The scale stopped after 40 pounds and frankly I was angry and discouraged but I am persistent once I focused on MY priorities my body composition changed thanks to tracking and learning to love exercise. I did most of it outdoors to begin with just walking. Then I discovered walking DVD,s There are no difficult dance things to remember. I like the ones with a group , Leslie Sansonnes are my favourites and spark has lots of free videos you can look at and try at home. I hope you can do this because I feel great and years younger now.
