I am a widowed mother of a beautiful 15 1/2 year old daughter. My husband passed away 3 years ago. My reason for joining SparkPeople was to set an example for my daughter on how to be healty, eat healthier, exercise more, and to increase my activity level. My daughter swims year round and has practice Monday - Friday for two and half hours a day and three hours on Saturday. She will also begin her first part-time job this summer. I am trying to figure out how to balance everything, plus fitting in time for SparkPeople. So far the Spark has been very motivational and inspiring; however, I am feeling very overwhelmed. But, I do have faith that God will see me through my struggles and help me in my journey. I would love to hear from other people on the Spark on how you handle these struggles.
I would like to loose a about 30 pounds, eat healthier, and exercise more. I also want to increase my stamina and gain more flexibility.
I am trying to walk everyday, eat healthier, and keep portion control in the front of my mind at all times. I am also trying to eliminate diet coke or at least decrease it to one can a day.
I am a widowed, single mother of a beautiful teenage daughter, who keeps me extremely busy.
We live in Ithaca, NY and I work at Cornell University. I absolutely love my job.

Christina is upmost in my thoughts. Deborah, thank you for your update, and I hope that you can continue to keep those communication channels open with her.
My heart and prayers go out to her and her family, and hope she see's and knows how much we all care about her. I agree the report is not important, only that she take the time to get through this ordeal with her family, giving and receiving the support they all need right now.
Other than sending her our comments and prayers, I think the next best thing we can all do is to keep this battle going. She deserves to see that we are the strong warriors, and that all of her efforts for our benefit have not gone for naught.
I am dedicating my next two days to exercising, eating right, water, sleep all on track. I am doing this as a show of respect for Christina. She is a true warrior, and I believe she will get through this and be an even stronger warrior after. And we will be there by her side, fighting on with her.
