I live in the Pacific Northwest near Seattle. I'm a 50-something technical writer, mountaineer, bicycler, hiker, illustrator, gardener, runner and father of one. I lost my wife in 2014 after an 11 year battle with cancer. I love dogs, but I live with a cat. We don't seem to mind.

Thanks for the cup of Joe. I'm still missing my mo to go with the Jo. Actually gained from eating out. Have lost that now tho. Probably will be same weight this week. Know I'm in maintenance but want so badly to lose 4.6 pounds. You are helping.

Thanks for checking on me. I have had a tough time AGAIN this challenge, and with just 4 weeks left, I have 8.4 pounds to lose to make my 5% goal. That is a tall order, and if I don't make it, I will just keep moving on. As long as the scale goes DOWN more than it goes UP, that is winning!
That said, I think it IS possible for me to reach this goal, and here is why. The past couple of weeks I have had a lot of circumstances that took me out of my routine, and since I failed to plan properly, I ate wrong, didn't exercise enough, and had a gain last week followed by a 1 pound loss this week. In the coming weeks, I don't have any such events coming up, so unless something unexpected happens, I should be able to stick to my routine pretty well for the remainder of the challenge, and whenever I have a week or two "off track" it seems to kind of bump my metabolism up, so when I get back on track, the first week or so the weight drops significantly. If that happens, then I could still make my goal.
But as I said...if not, progress IS progress, so that's good too.

Thanks for commenting on my blog.... fortunately, my mom (almost 95!!!!) IS on the grid, and so I can still log on to SP when I visit her....
BUT, having a long streak like mine can really be a problem if we lose power or connectivity.... so far it hasn't been a problem for us...
