Beach Mom Is Working on Getting Back Down to Her Already Reached Goal!!!

My name is Aimee Beardsley...

I am 21 years old, and a full time Sales Assistant, Mother, and student.

I put on almost 100 lbs. with my pregnancy, and my weight has been an emotional and exhausting struggle ever since. Becoming a mother at 16 was also difficult, and is hurt my self-esteem to see my cheerleader buddies continue to be adolescents, while I was quickly transformed into a responsible adult. Of course, I would never change any desicion that I have ever made ...

Of course, I would never change any desicion that I have ever made for the world; I just now realize that accomplishing my goals takes a lot more work than it once did.

Since July of 2008, I have lost 60 lbs. (WOW). I refuse to welcome my 21st birthday with overweight arms; it's time I did something amazing for myself. I plan to continue this journey and finally conquer!!! :-)

06/02/10: I often get asked what my exercise program is. Well honestly, it fluctuates. But since early February of this year, my very effective program is as follows:

Sunday: TurboKick class - 10 AM
Monday: TurboKick class - 7 PM
Tuesday TurboKick class - 7PM
Wednesday: 3.5 mile run + strength train
Thursday: TurboKick class - 6 PM
Friday: Either TurboKick @ 6, running, or REST. Hehe
Saturday: TurboKick class - 10 AM.

This program totals at around 355-400 minutes of exercise per week, and about 3500-4000 calories per week.

I try to eat around 1200-1400 calories per day. I haven't lost a ton of weight per se, but I am DEFINTETLY much more toned and thin than I was! In fact: Just bought my first pair of size four pants last weekend...And bought two pairs!

*Update: So, I didn't reach my goal of weighing 135 by my 21st birthday, but I have gained SOOO much more out of life since setting that goal! When I began sparkpeople and set a goal to be my high school weight, I didn't actually think that it was going to happen. I thought, 'cool, maybe I will lose 15 or 20 pounds, but i'll obviously never get below a certain weight...that's just how it is'. One word of advice I have for everyone: DON'T EVER DOUBT YOURSELF!!! Losing weight isn't some miraculous and insane phenomenon that only a few get to experience in thier lives; each and everyone of us holds the power to be healthy and love ourselves. Just dig deep, hold on for the wild ride, and remember to find love in taking care of yourself and your body. You will get there!!!
I STILL LOVE myself on the inside, and that's what truly matters!

My Goals:
When I first started this lifestyle change, I wanted to be skinny, and shop at cute clothing stores, etc, etc. Now, I realize that it is not about those insignificant things. I want to feel healthy in every aspect. I don't want aches and pains, restless nights, depression thoughts and obese clothing. I don't want to be out of breath, always hungry, and kicking myself for not being able to say 'No'. These are my ultimate goals, and it has been a pleasure accomplishing them.

Also, because I have been asked this alot and rightly so! My height is about 5'2, just slightly under. I'm short, so every pound really shows!!!

My Program:
Here is what I eat: Anything with low calories, low sodium, low carbs, low fat, high fiber and high protein!

Losing weight, I have found, is not as hard as it seems. Track your food and read labels! Do that one meal at a time, with a simple math calculation, and your diet is off the checklist!

Exercise: I began losing weight by catching the bus a few stops after my normal one, walking to the grocery store, pharmacy, and any other place within range, and going to the gym. Then, I began jogging in my neighborhood, and jogging 3 miles to pick my son up from school instead of catching the bus. Save money - Lose weight!
Now I jog to drop him off, walk to work, walk to pick him up, and jog home! Little things make a HUGE difference. Challenge yourself everyday and see if you can incorporate exercise in your daily routine.

Personal Information:
I currently reside in Santa Monica, CA but am originally from Denver CO. What a change, right? I love the california weather, but really miss the friendliness of pretty much anywhere BUT california. If you are in my area and would like to help motivate each other, like going to the gym, walks/jogs/runs or just events in the community, let me know!

Other Information:
For all of you folks out there just like me and the rest of the unhappy crowd, please don't give up. It seems so hard to say no sometimes, or to get up and exercise, but it is true; the feeling of accomplishment afterwards is so much of a better feeling, trust me. It only gets easier, and that is the truth.
