A friend had this posted on Facebook and I thought it was great, I am trying to learn & live by it.

Taken Oct. 15th 2011-surprised me that I could tell by my face how much weight I had lost.

Here I am with one of my very best friends...I have know him since I was 13 (he was 17).

I have 9 pics in my gallery

Learning to accept & appreciate "progress not perfection"

I have continued to make progress, slow but sure, which I am learning to be happy with. A good friend once told me "progress not perfection", and I have tried to keep that as my main focus. In the past I would beat myself up over every little slip up or less then "perfect" moment. I have seen just how counter productive that had been. Now, I strive to keep making progress and give myself credit for the progress I have made. It has not been an easy adjustment and I still have a long way to ...
It has not been an easy adjustment and I still have a long way to go, but at least I have continued to move in the right direction. That in itself is a great accomplishment and has helped to prove to myself that I do have the ability to reach my goal. I did not get this far away from it, overnight, and I have to stop expecting to reach it, overnight. All the best to everyone in their journey to reach their goal, no matter how big or how small.

You have a very youthful looking face! I am surprised at your age. But what is 51 really, the new 40 or 30! I will 67 on Feb 12th a and have five grown children and am still carrying baby weight and more, and my youngest was born in 1978. I have been punishing my knees for qute a long time and I weigh 261 at barely over 5 feet tall (although I used to be 5'2 i/2" I have a lot to lose and I seem to be going the wrong way! But I am trying to turn it around. I was at 244 last October, but I started gaining as fall moved forward and then had breast reconstruction surgery in December and inactivity has pushed me a little higher on the scale. I'm hoping that when I can exercise more I can see some results. I used my arm ergometer today for 5 minutes, stretched for 5 and I will check my Spark Activity Tracker later hoping for over .2 miles today. That's about the best I can do when I am housebound by weather and with restrictions from the doctor. But this too shall pass and I am still working on it. I've learned to turn more of my thoughts around to make them positive rather than feeling defeated before I begin. I work on cognitive behavioral therapy and it really helps me with the validity of my thoughts. Where your negative thought take you is not a good place to be. We need to learn not to define ourselves by our past, but from where we are now and moving into the future. You are still comparatively young to many and have made the commitment to dedicate the way you live your life to being one with wellness, and don't let your thoughts tell you any different. emoticon emoticon Carol, you rock! You go girl!
