I have been on a weight loss journey for a long time and have lost a lot of weight. I started at 520 lbs but have lost 235 lbs and have kept it off for about 9 years but my diabetes is getting worse and my eating habits are awful and my motivation level is bad too so the scale is going up.

I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes about 6 years ago and diabetes is all over both sides of my family. I do take insulin and pills with now the doctor is stating that its not working so it's time to make changes or I will surely die soon. I don't want that.

I am raising my grandson now. He is 6 months old and I see myself not being here for him. What would happen to him if I can't take care of him? Scarey thought. So here I am.

I found SparkPeople through a google search for a menu planner. This sounds like it could be the motivation I need.

My Goals:
DECEMBER GOALS

1. We will fix meals together. Noah loves to help

2. We will at least walk 60 minutes a day. We need to get all the Avon Brochures out

3. We will walk to church on Wednesday and Sunday for sure unless the weather prohibits it.

4. We will go to a park at least 1x a week to play and swimming at the center 1x a week

5. We will eat our meals together and at the table without the TV

6 We will go to bed on time every day.


My Program:
I plan my week's food a week ahead of time. Then I buy those foods only. I then fix breakfast lunch and dinner in the morning and put it in the refrigerator portioned and the rest in the freezer.

8 am breakfast
12 lunch
3 snack
6 dinner
8 snack

I was born in Seattle WA,
Graduated from Mark Morris High School in Longview WA in 1981.
Moved to Bellingham, Boise, Coalville, UT , and Portland

Moved to Vancouver WA in 2009

2 children: Michael 28 Heather 26

1 grandson (lives with me) Noah 2 years

    Hello Mrs. Joann, I have been a diabetic now for 12 years and in times I was pregnant my bs was in control and after my sugar have been just every where. I have an insulin pump and been told that I am a type 3 diabetic, but I say now that I am beating diabetes, it is time for me to get my healthy back and I hope that we can motivate each other.
