2014! A Year To Be Healthy, Happy & Prosperous!

Hello & Welcome! I'm a big fan of Sparkpeople and recently celebrated my seventh year of living a more healthy lifestyle. I have lost 17 pounds since becoming a Sparker, but still have those stubborn extra pounds hanging in there. I am much more active and feel so much better.

I am a 68 year old baby boomer born, raised, and currently living in the "Show-Me State of Missouri", after a twenty year journey as a military wife. I am currently employed full time in the field of rental property management and love being active each day.

I am a proud mother & grandmother. My daughter and granddaughter who live with me, a son and a Daughter In Law that resides in Arkansas with her two grown sons. I am further blessed with a guardian angel son who left us much too early, but will be in our hearts forever.

My Goals:
Fall 2014 5% Challenge Commitment:
Participate in Team Goals & Challenges to motivate me to become more healthy.
Do my Spark strength exercises each a.m. before work.
Make the effort to go on a daily walk. Minimum of 15 minutes.
Strive to reach 8,000 steps daily.
Use the nutrition & fitness trackers daily.

My Program:
1. Drink 8 glasses of water per day.
2. Minimum of 6 fruits and vegetables per day.
3. Practice portion control-Stay within calorie ranges.
4. No Excuses! Do your Daily Exercises.
5. Stay Mindful and in control during evening hours.
6. Don't be an evening couch potato!

Personal Information:
I like to play Bunco and currently play a couple nights a month and enjoy a night of Dominoes with a group of ladies. I enjoy relaxing with a good mystery book and belong to a mystery book club at our local library. I also enjoy our town's Theater and concerts in the Park series during the Summer months. Bowling on a ladies league is a fall/winter activity.

Other Information:
I try to check in with Sparkpeople daily as it keeps me motivated and I enjoy visiting with my Sparkfriends and participating in the challenges that keep me on track.

Thanks for stopping by and reading my rant, yes it does take everything i have it seems to get it set up for one exercise and then i do that exercise and have to rest to do the next one ,,,but i am confident in time i will learn in what order to do the exercise that i want to do to eliminate the extra moves that is taking the toll from me..but i am enjoying the different way of working out....have a great evening Linda...

I do the same thing: 1 cup of black coffee in the morning (took me a few months to wean myself off of creamer, but now I only drink black), and then water for the rest of the day.

The lemon slices just kind of jazz up water without adding any calories like those "water enhancers" can, and there's no worry about artificial sweeteners or dyes. I've heard cucumber, mint, and lime are good in water as well if you want to switch it up. I can usually get in a liter (half of daily allowance) of water at work, and another one when I work out afterward.
