Thank you so much for your comment on my blog that means so much to me. I had wanted to share about Omaha Beach and to go on that hike for a long time, yet it made me nervous too, unsure how to deal with the emotions and then to share them with my American Sparkfriends... I do hope this blog is saying more than anything: "We haven't forgotten, we are still immensely grateful... even though life goes on and there is now a summer camp on Omaha and people swimming and sunbathing..."
Personally, let me say how thankful I am to your father and father-in-law. I'll speak about the museum at the cemetery in my next blog, and it shared about the life of several of the men who are buried there. (There were many wet cheeks around me as I was going through the museum!) And it did show how very young many of them were... and as you said, that others were young fathers with kids. All those years later, their children, as they were interviewed in the excellent movie being shown, couldn't hold their tears either.
