Welcome to my Spark page. I am 64 years old and a retired speciaI education teacher (non categorical preschool).
My husband and I have a 4 year old rescue beagle named Buster. He is a bundle of energy and makes us laugh. He has eerily similar traits that we saw in our last 2 rescue beagles. He's very sweet and lots of fun for us.
Our daughter, husband and her 3 children (my adorable grandchildren) live about 25 minutes from us. They also have an old rescue beagle. I am so fortunate to see them a lot. They are my sunshine!!
Our son is married to a great woman. They have his rescue beagle (see a pattern in our family?) and her two cats. They live about 25 minutes from us also (in the opposite direction!)
I joined Spark in December 2009 and, like everyone, life has thrown me some curves as well as blessed me in many ways! Although I struggle with consistency, my main struggle seems to always be with exercise. It seems I do fine for awhile and then I get off track. I always go back to the basics but it does get discouraging.
I'm trying to focus on being a healthy me with the energy to have fun with my family!

-maintain a consistent exercise routine (walking, yoga, ST)
-drink at least 3 glasses of water a day

Personal Information:
I've been married to my wonderful husband for 42 years. We have 2 grown children. Our daughter is married with 3 children. I feel so blessed to have them close and spend lots of time with them. Our son and his wife are recently married and right now live about 10 minutes from us.I taught preschool special education for 23 years and retired about 5 years ago. Loving retirement and am always busy!

Other Information:
I love to read!!! I belong to PaperbackSwap and love having access to so many books.
We are moving our pontoon to Smith Mountain Lake and hope to spend some weekends and at least one week each summer down there. We are able to spend lots of time with our kids and grandkids. I love spending time with my family!

    Beth, I have to tell you, since starting this protocol I haven't any heartburn/reflux at all...and that had pretty much become a constant. That'ts one of the best parts.
    But I so hear you about not wanting to be dictated to about what I can and can't eat. But it got bad enough so that I had to do something, and most of the time it is worth it. Desperation often makes things so much more palatable. It's all a matter of finding that balance, isn't it?

    They both seem highly qualified. Back when I was doing my own research they were at the top of my list and they were one of the 5 vets on our former vet's list and the local vet chose them too. Hopefully that is a good omen.

    You know Beth, I would have agreed with you 100% on this a few years ago. Though what added to a lot of my problems was that I have a tendency to ignore how I'm feeling and keep pushing myself on. I have a tendency to blame myself for things that aren't necessarily my control. At on point, exercise only left me more exhausted and more hurting....heck just washing the dishes was enough to leave me needing a nap. I remember what it was like to exercise and "feel good" after, but it had been a long time since I had had that feeling. One thing that drives me crazy is I need to spend a lot of time "analyzing" myself. (I feel off, why would that be, what did I eat, why are my stress levels rising like crazy, how can I reduce them....did I take my meds, is the dose high enough...are the jitters from too much meds....and so on. I don't feel as lazy or lethargic or ill, but some days I feel downright neurotic, ha ha. Heck even mood swings that the husband picks up on generally revolve around what foods I ate...he always knows when I broke down and had a maple glazed donut, ha ha ha!
    So basically, my main goal Is to enjoy my life and family, because, ultimately what else matters? There just happen to be a few havetas that need to be met in order to do that. And that's okay, I usually do fine with "it is what it is"
    I hope you had a great time at the lake....My baby just turned 25, but I now have 4 over 30 and I'm not sure when that happened, ha ha!
