Welcome to my Spark page. I am 64 years old and a retired speciaI education teacher (non categorical preschool). My husband and I have a 4 year old rescue beagle named Buster. He is a bundle of energy and makes us laugh. He has eerily similar traits that we saw in our last 2 rescue beagles. He's very sweet and lots of fun for us. Our daughter, husband and her 3 children (my adorable grandchildren) live about 25 minutes from us. They also have an old rescue beagle. I am so fortunate to see them a lot. They are my sunshine!! Our son is married to a great woman. They have his rescue beagle (see a pattern in our family?) and her two cats. They live about 25 minutes from us also (in the opposite direction!) I joined Spark in December 2009 and, like everyone, life has thrown me some curves as well as blessed me in many ways! Although I struggle with consistency, my main struggle seems to always be with exercise. It seems I do fine for awhile and then I get off track. I always go back to the basics but it does get discouraging. I'm trying to focus on being a healthy me with the energy to have fun with my family!
-be aware of my diet and portion control -maintain a consistent exercise routine (walking, yoga, ST) -drink at least 3 glasses of water a day -blog weekly
-be aware of nutrition and portion control -track my fitness every day -track my fruits/veggies -track my water intake
I've been married to my wonderful husband for 42 years. We have 2 grown children. Our daughter is married with 3 children. I feel so blessed to have them close and spend lots of time with them. Our son and his wife are recently married and right now live about 10 minutes from us.I taught preschool special education for 23 years and retired about 5 years ago. Loving retirement and am always busy!
I love to read!!! I belong to PaperbackSwap and love having access to so many books. We are moving our pontoon to Smith Mountain Lake and hope to spend some weekends and at least one week each summer down there. We are able to spend lots of time with our kids and grandkids. I love spending time with my family!
Dear dear spark friend. Thank you for the bloglove on my Birthday Month post. It really does feel different this year, without my mother, but it still feels good. For that I am deeply thankful. I couldn't have gotten here without the support of people like you.
I'm sort of inspired by the Aztecs - even with their predisposition to violence and blood-letting they have nice outfits and I like their use of color. I'm not a pant suit type person like Hillary Clinton. I like your suggestion "The Grand Poobah of All Things Weather" though but I would like to keep the Aztecan robes, gold jewelry, and such. Their sun Gods always met with bad endings anyway but I like to dress nice.
Thanks for the vote of support. Actually the most challenging thing will probably be figuring out what to call myself. I want to avoid sounding like another pocket-draining bureaucracy. The Department of Weather Control just doesn't do it. I would prefer to be called Sun God actually but we both know there is more to it than that.
I'm tired of not being in charge of the weather. I offered to do this decades ago and was never given the position. It's not like I wouldn't be able to do a good job at this. I made my own weather station in junior high!! I could probably please almost all but the most discriminating weather aficionados while simultaneously doing away with things like droughts, floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, etc. Yet, I'm ignored and no one is happy!
