2014 - A Year of Ups & Downs

This year I hoped for a year of peace, a year to settle in to new lifestyles and relationships - but I also hoped to return to a physically healthier me, the me that I was in 2012.

Once again, I am re-setting my goals. I will always be the person who lost almost 140 lbs within approximately 1.5 years. I will also be the person that gained back all of those pounds (and more) through a series of bad choices, compounded by too many hours of work and far ...

This year I hoped for a year of peace, a year to settle in to new lifestyles and relationships - but I also hoped to return to a physically healthier me, the me that I was in 2012.

Once again, I am re-setting my goals. I will always be the person who lost almost 140 lbs within approximately 1.5 years. I will also be the person that gained back all of those pounds (and more) through a series of bad choices, compounded by too many hours of work and far too few hours of exercise and sleep. Loss of a family member with the resulting comfort eating was a huge factor in 2013. This year, taking on the full-time care of my mom has put a crimp into the time and energy that I have to exercise and focus on healthy eating.

Here are the plans I have for the rest of this year:

1. Restart my walking and strength training routines.

2. Train to do the LR half marathon in March 2015.

3. Focus on my Scottie every moment that I can.

4. Find a better balance between work, family and my own well-being.

My Goals:
Get back into my ST routine

Be a group leader at the runners clinic this year

Begin training for my first full marathon

Get back into a good eating groove

Start cooking more our meals and having the leftovers for lunches.

My Program:
Drink at least 8 glasses of water daily

Walk/run at least 5 days per week

Strength training 1 or 2 days per week

Personal Information:
I am 47 years old.

I am married to a wonderful man since Aug. 10, 2013. Our only "kids" are our pets.

I work in the IT department of a large hospital chain.

My fitness journey:
At the beginning of 2010, I weighed 356. My doctor put me on Metformin because my A1C was high, then I had to have surgery to remove my gallbladder. I actually lost 26 lbs without even trying - I think because of the new medication and changes in my digestive process after the gallbladder removal.

At that point, I decided to capitalize on the unexpected weight loss and see if a little effort could help me lose even more. On June 11, 2010, I joined SparkPeople to help me track my food and my exercise.

At the end of 2012, I was at my lowest weight - exercising regularly, eating right most of the time. At that point, a major work project started taking over my life and I started my online dating journey. Diet and exercise kinda fell by the wayside for many months -

Other Information:
I like to read, watch movies and TV, play hidden object computer games and EAT!

One of my favorite movies is "The Princess Bride".

I very much enjoy British humor, especially Monty Python.

I love dogs and cats and critters of all kinds.
