My Goals:
My primary goal is to drop 65 pounds by the end of the 2010-2011 NHL Hockey Season.

To lead by example and coach my immediate family (who all have health and weight issues) make big changes personally, mentally, spiritually and physically.

The plan is to implement a new healthy way of living with proper diet and excercise.

To help my sister who is recovering from mental illness develope life skills and find job.

Other Interesting Goals:

Hold the Stanely Cup

Meet Don Cherry

Go Musky Fishing with Brian Burke

Be on an episode of the Punjabi version of coaches corner.

Go to a Stanely Cup Final Game.

Run a mile with Toronto Mayor Rob Ford.

Help Markus (6 Years Old) score his first hockey goal. btw, thanks for giving me the name Big Brett.

Train like Manny Pacquiao a Filipino professional boxing champ while in the Philipines (Learn Boxing techniques including punching and skipping).

My Program:
I began my journey September 1st, 2010 with healthy eating and new workout regime. Using a calorie count method, I began to log my caloric intake and expeditures daily.

As of October 23rd, 2010 I transitioned to the Dr. Poon Metobolic Diet (Phase 1), and have already enjoyed great success.

Regular excercise includes 5 weekday lunch workouts.

Additonal extended cardio sessions during televised NHL hockey games. GO LEAFS GO!

Supplemental group excercise classes were added and included Thinkfitness Studio Circuit training, group Body Pump classes and group Body Combat classes.

Personal Information:
This effort in the battle against Obesity is dedicated to my Aunt Rita Lyons in Melbourne Australia, who I know has a tough and long road ahead fighting the cancer that makes her sick.

The Lyons family of 5 is so dear and special to me and Aunt Rita, Uncle Edmund, Jyrus, Jayden, and Reese you in my thoughts regularly. I miss you all so much.

My Aunt Rita may be many miles away, but her playful happy go lucky personality hasn't been forgotten. Although I am not with her physically, please know that I am with her in mind and spirit .

I'd like to share a journey of my own, it's a battle against obesity and a fight to overcome bad habits and an unhealthy lifestyle that has plagued me andmy immediate family for a lifetime. We all know they call me Big Brett for good reason.

I'm hoping to lead by example and to make big changes both personally and physically and implement a new healthy way of living within my own immediate family.

Other Information:
Motivational Sayings courtesy of Vince Lombardi

"The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand"

"The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather in a lack of will."

“Leaders aren't born, they are made. And they are made just like anything else, through hard work. And that's the price we'll have to pay to achieve that goal, or any goal.”

“I firmly believe that any man's finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is the moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle - victorious”
