My Goals:
I started at 201 and intend to end up at 146 pounds, bringing my BMI back into the normal range. I used to be obese, with a BMI of 33.5.

My Program:
I try to stay with my recommended calorie range, without actually going on a diet. I love veggies and fruit, seafood and lean poultry, I just have to cut down on the extra fat and sweets I occasionally crave for. I bought a fitbit in July 2013 and walking 10,000+ steps a day has greatly improved my health and well-being.

Personal Information:
Bine, from Cologne, Germany. I work as a graphic designer, and I am in training to become a counselor and therapist. I'm 46 and happily bundled up with a wonderful man. I love to read, to knit, to crochet, to walk and to swim.

Go check out the Appalachian Trail Spark Team to see how I am handling "doing the China Wall" on my own.

LADYVOLSFAN1954's the leader and she really tries to keep the team alive. She made a thread so I could do the Pacific Crest with Sassafrass (she left for health reasons) and now she & I are doing the Great China Wall. We are using one thread but we are doing the walk separately. I figure 100+ days to Inner Mongolia!

I too prefer to "walk alone" so I can see my progress.

Lady even has a thread that shows where you are by the miles on the Appalachian Trail! Awesome!!

I have 5 teams just so I can earn the "Red Flag" points daily - they also count towards your daily total!

Leave any team that doesn't help you.

I'm an idiot - was looking at my own page - you're not on the "where are you walking" team emoticon but for some reason I can't edit my comments on your page.

my mistake - I see so many people posting where I post.
and we can belong to too many teams :(

The Virtual Walk team is at a stand-still at the moment because the government site closed so, no more walking across America. However, we are discussing other places to count our steps. Check it out, but don't feel badly if you don't want to join. I'm afraid the team could even disband :(

I also belong to the Appalachian Trail team - but I don't track the App.Trail because I never found anything that was workable for me. It's actually funny - I was asked to join to do the Pacific Crest Trail with another sparkie who ran into health problems and hasn't been back. But I finished once and restarted it! Not the most active team, but it is nice.

I'm glad to see you belong to the 10K Steps team - are you also walking with the team @WorldWalking.org? Krys has been leading the team for a very long time - she's a really sweet lady!

I have found that any progress is good - but I don't beat myself up when I have a few rough days here and there. Lately I've been having them again - it all straightens out eventually.
