Body, Mind, Spirit - Focusing on the Positive

In 2009, I lost sixteen pounds and became the fittest I had been in ten years by using Spark People as a motivator. I gradually drifted away from Spark People and put back all of those pounds. My Goals:
1) To eat healthier
2) Lose 14 pounds
3) To stay with a walking program of fifteen miles a week.
4) Strive for a minimum of 7,500 steps a day

My Program:
1) Keeping a log of what I eat
2) Walking 3 miles at a brisk pace five times a week.
3) Wearing a pedometer to track the number of steps per day

Personal Information:
I am sixty six years old and a retired city planner.

In my late thirties and throughout my forties, I was a competitive runner with some good success in age group competition at the local level.

However chronic and repetitive bouts with plantar fascitis put an end to my running. Since running was more a competitive thing than for fitness, I began neglecting my overall fitness when I could no longer run.

Over the years, I continued to gain weight (some of which was needed), but totally lost even the most rudimentary level of fitness. During the last several years, my weight started rapidly heading in the wrong direction.

Now, I have learned to accept that I can use walking as a way to gain fitness without having to use competition as a motivation for getting into shape.



Other Information:
I enjoy gardening and bird watching. I maintain four seed feeders and during hummingbird season, have a hummingbird feeder.

I occasionally paint in oils and enjoy sewing.

So it doesn't spoil your Present.

Give the Time, Some Time.

4) No one is the Reason for your Happiness
Except You, yourself.

5) Don't compare your Life with others,
You have No Idea what their journey is all about.

6) Stop Thinking too much
It's Alright not to know all the Answers.

7) Smile..You don't own
All the Problems in the World.
