My Weight Loss Journey

I had decided that if I lost 15 pounds in 2014, I would reward myself with a subscription to People Magazine and if I didn't lose 15 pounds, I'd hire a personal trainer.

Well, I didn't lose 15 pounds (only lost 3.2 pounds) but I'm not hiring a personal trainer right now for two reasons. One is that I'm still going to physio every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon for the tendonitis in my shoulders and two is that I just can't afford it right now.

But I've pushed myself out of my comfort zone and have joined the Navy Ninjas Team in BLC27 and am hoping that by the end of the 12 weeks, I will finally fit into the brand new size 18 jeans I've had for two years!

In 2015, I want to exercise a minimum of 6 days per week and be down a minimum of 10 pounds over the year.

More INFO about me...

I am 54 years old and I started at 264 pounds in 1998 and have been trying to get down to 150 pounds since then.

I have rheumatoid autoimmune disease (RA), which sometimes makes it difficult to exercise but I know that I always feel better afterwards. Sometimes you just have to push yourself to get going and once you're going, the pain often goes away.

I've been married for 31 years and counting. We have one cat named Ogoni and no kids by choice.

I'm close to my family. I have dinner at my Dad's house every Friday night and visit with my 4 younger sisters regularly.

I'm a music-a-holic especially alternative-rock, classic rock and folk music.

I love reading. My favourite genres are mysteries, romantic suspense and YA fantasy and sci-fi novels.

I also love reading cookbooks and fitness books.

I love exercising to DVDs and have over 150 workouts. My favourite forms of exercise are strength training, Zumba and kickboxing and in the nicer weather swimming and hiking.

I love native art and most of the art in our house is of the native sort.

I used to love gardening until my RA took a lot of the joy out of it so now all my gardens are in pots. I usually grow various herbs, tomatoes and geraniums.

I enjoy cooking when I have the time and I love trying new recipes and I have a filing cabinet drawer full of recipes plus two shelves on the bookshelf filled with cookbooks. I typically cook all my meals for the week on Sundays so I don't have to cook after work, which I hate doing.

I hate being cold and have told DH that more than anything, I want to become a snowbird when we're retired (live somewhere warmer than Canada during the winter months). In the meantime, I go to the Caribbean with my dad for one week every February.

I have a wonderful job working for wonderful people. I look after the training and licensing requirements for our staff who need to be licensed to do their jobs. I also do secretarial duties. One of the perks of my job that I especially like is that I'm the only woman and get treated like the Queen Bee and that makes me very happy.

Personal Information:
I live in Ontario, Canada with my husband, named Jake and my cat, named Ogoni. I have no kids by choice but 11 nieces and nephews, whom I love and spoil. My birthday is May 12, 1960 and I've been married to Jake since March 24, 1984.

I'm an Administrative Secretary for our local municipal government. I work in the section where our guys repair watermains and sewers and I'm the only woman in our section and I LOVE it!

I think I am on the right team. We shall see. The Renegades are very focused on clean eating and exercise and I am certainly interested in both of those things. My biggest fear is not losing. Winter is a notoriously tough season for me to lose weight. So I am focused on eating clean and exercising. Trying to get fit and healthy. Hoping the weight will come off but my thyroid and immune system tend to make it more challenging when it is this cold. Wish me luck. How is it going with the Ninjas?

Hey there Joanna, thank you for the goodie. Hope you had a good holiday season and are doing well. I'm doing well on my nutrition but need to step up the game on my fitness. Especially since DH got me registrations to both a Spartan Race and a Warrior Dash for Christmas. Now I need to get prepared. How are you? Hope all is well.
