My Weight Loss Journey

I've decided that if I lose 15 pounds in 2014, I will reward myself with a subscription to People Magazine and if I don't lose 15 pounds, I'll hire a personal trainer. And, I will fit into the brand new size 18 jeans I've had for two years!

INFO about me...

I am 54 years old and I started at 264 pounds in 1998 and have been trying to get down to 150 pounds since then.

INFO about me...

I am 54 years old and I started at 264 pounds in 1998 and have been trying to get down to 150 pounds since then.

I have rheumatoid autoimmune disease, which sometimes makes it difficult to exercise, but in 2009, I exercised 253 days and in 2010, I exercised 344 days! Now some of those days were only 10 or 15-minute exercise sessions but the point is that exercise is doable even when you're sore and most of the time, it actually makes me feel better!

Unfortunately, I gained 6 pounds other the course of the year.

And, then in 2011, I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in my knees and wasn’t able to do as much exercise as I did in the past two years. But, I did some physio on my knees and by the end of 2011, I was exercising more days than not even with some kickboxing. Woohoo!

I exercised a total of 144 days for the whole year and lost the 6 pounds that I gained in 2010. I did that with a combination of Weight Watchers at the beginning of the year and with the support of the Awesome A Team on the 5% Challenges on SparkPeople in the latter part of year. And, I only gained 1 pound over the Christmas holidays with their help as well!

In 2012, I found the BLC challenges and my wonderful Amazon Warriors team and with their help, I lost another 11 pounds from September 2012 to April 2013, which puts me at my lowest weight since 2008!

In 2013, I exercised 325 days and lost 11 pounds.

To follow the SparkPeople program.

To exercise for a minimum of 30 minutes a day 5 times a week incorporating strength-training along with cardio.

Personal Information:
I live in Ontario, Canada with my husband, named Jake and my cat, named Ogoni. I have no kids by choice but 11 nieces and nephews, whom I love and spoil. My birthday is May 12, 1960 and I've been married to Jake since March 24, 1984.

I'm an Administrative Secretary for our local municipal government. I work in the section where our guys repair watermains and sewers and I'm the only woman in our section and I LOVE it!

Thanks a bunch for the smiley face goodie, Joanna! LOL at you being the grammar police! Well, when I notice something is wrong like that, it does stick out like a sore thumb to me. So I can understand it bugging you. Well, we'll see if I can remember the proper time to use colons and semi-colons! Hope your week is going great! See you on the crunch challenge!

I 'did' wonder whether I had used the right spelling for 'practise'! - it always gets me, and is one of those words that I can never write 'unconsciously'......

And - 200 fitness DVDs - WOW! I am SURE you'll be able to work out a plan. DO IT.

Good morning (almost afternoon) to you, Joanna! Thank you for the workout DVD goodie. I'm so glad that you are part of the team. When I joined, I was sad that the leader wasn't posting. I knew it could be a really good team, because there are some awesome ladies on it and you're one of them. Thanks for being a great team member!

I am chuckling about my spelling on the workout thread. I will change that. I am kind of a grammar/spelling nut too...but obviously there is room for improvement with me! The thing that gets me most is when people say "loose weight" instead of "lose weight", or when they get there, their and they're wrong. Anyway, thanks for pointing out my error!
