I'm athletic, energetic and spiritually happy, while not being happy with my weight. I'm not achieving all I can athletically and energy-wise. I also know the bottom line is that my long-term health and longevity can only be helped by weight loss.

I'm athletic, energetic and spiritually happy, while not being happy with my weight. I'm not achieving all I can athletically and energy-wise. I also know the bottom line is that my long-term health and longevity can only be helped by weight loss.

There is a definite emotional component to my eating. I was brought up with food being used as either punishment or reward for just about every situation. I'm on the road a lot due to my coaching schedule and some trying family issues. These situations are often binge-triggers for me. I need to identify some coping strategies and really strive to implement them.

I'm going to make this fun for myself. I love to cook, so I'm going to make my food interesting. I love to exercise, so I'm giving myself the gift of time to do that every day. I'm going to reward myself with a variety of exercise options, so that it always remains something fun and challenging.

My Challenges and Results:

4/25/11 Self Challenge: 21 Day Vegan Kickstart, minimum 10 minutes of exercise a day, blog at least every other day, including food log.
Result- successful as eating vegan and exercising, not so much at logging. Something to work on!

190 - 5% more or less - I'm working on it!

My Goals:
Be more active and engaged daily in those things that affect my health.
To be leaner, more flexible and to lose the visceral fat in my core area.

Small Weight Goal: 180

Mid-range Goal - "Overweight from Obese - 174 on my charts"




My Program:
To strive to eat a vegan diet, forgiving myself when the siren call of cheese or the occasional egg wins.

Movement:
Walk every morning, rain or shine.
3 fitness classes or DVDs a week (including 2 strength sessions)
Continue to do those things I love and incorporate already, such as hiking, volleyball and zumba and to try new things.

Personal Information:
I'm a puzzle - equal right brain/left brain type. I love to do things old-school, like making my own condiments, cereals, cleaning supplies, clothing, etc. Love the little techie gadgets, though, like my smart phone. Happy as a clam when curled up reading or digging in the garden. Soul of a caregiver with the competitive heart of an athlete. Always working towards balance in life.

Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going.
