My goal remains to weigh zero pounds.

To stand sideways and cast no shadow.

Also to grow in height. Several inches in fact.

Everything helps that nasty BMI number - both the numerator and the denominator!

My Goals:
My overall goal is to lose 45% of my starting weight of 281. This will take me down to 155, now that weighing zero seems a little unrealistic.

For 2014 the plan is simple: to lose 1.5 lbs per week. That will bring me to within a few pounds of goal by the end of 2014.

My Program:
1. Treating the Sparky Nutrition Tracker as an unrelenting drill sergeant (i..e, the Soup Nazi).

2. No "seconds", no desserts, and no exceptions. I have become an herbivore, mainly. No veggies or fruits are safe in our house.

3. I track sodium and cholesterol as well. Male and in my 50s, I harbor no illusion over the importance of this stuff too.

4. Gym during the school year, cardio (45 minutes) and strength (20 to 30 minutes), about 4 or 5 days a week. Brisk walks outdoors, as conditions allow, on weekends. Swim laps in the summer, as much as time allows (typically 50 to 100 miles per summer). Yes, I have scales, gills and a waterproof mp3 player.

5. Using the Sparky Activity Tracker and totally floating myself away on roughly 100 oz of water per day. Oh yes, peeing just all the damn time too.

6. Maintain humor throughout the process - absolutely essential!

7. Do this with my wife, Susan818127 also here on Spark. Check h

Hope you get to enjoy the rest of the summer swims! Hard to face the darkness, but then I remember my son in Fairbanks, AK . . . . they've already had some snow north of him. ACK!!!

Phebe and I met for dinner at the Carnegie Deli last night. We spent three hours over our respective matzo-ball soup and cheese blintzes. It was a treat. She was, that is.

I need a show of hands: Who thinks the social side of Spark really is worth anything at all? Who thinks its a mere contrivance to drive up the cost of ad space here? Le5t's hear it!
i did answer your question in the small space alowed and spent a little more time thinking and decided it neededmore of an answere. So many
may not support at home and find here i have found it on two teams and look forward to visiting with my friends. soem are more like family then friends we help each othr on the journey with family issues and many times they are not weight loss related . this when i got up Monday and weent to my car to go to the gym i found my car had been broken into and the ingition was trashed and they car would not start of course. call the crime check insurance company called to talk with several family members leaving messages on the answering machine NO ONE has responded yet. i wrote a blog to feel less stressed and several spark friends responded some sent goodies so yes the social part of spark is very important to me on my journey.

How nice of you to check in on me. I'm in self-imposed exile-----still dealing witl chronic pain and loss of mobility. I'm a strange creature - must be a turle in my family tree as i tend to go into my shell while I'm figuring things out.

But all things considered - I'm OK.
I've been off Sparks for a while so I don't know what mischief you've been up to.
Care to fill me in?

Yes, I'm on hiatus - but I'm hoping it will be temporary - and when I get serious about losing weight again - I'll come crawling back. Good news is that I've not put put on any.....status quo.

Gotta' go to your page and look for photos of the new you and Susan.
Take care and write if you feel like it!
