Here's To Health!

Hi, everyone. I am a blues singer from Boston, MA, and I'm grateful I get to do what I love...and be paid for it to boot! Music is my religion and the center of my world. It keeps me going on good days, bad days and in between. I can't imagine my life without it. I'm all about finding the right balance of good food, exercise, sleep, wellness and peace. My Goals:
Current Goals:

1) Complete a "century" bike ride (100 miles) during the Century Cycling Challenge at my gym which happens from Apr. 7-May 4. Deadline: by May 4, 2014

2) Get into the "healthy" weight range for my height (5'3") which would be 104-141 lbs. Deadline: by June 25, 2014.

3) Hit my goal weight of 130 lbs by my 39th birthday. Deadline: by August 24, 2014

4) Wear a figure flattering bathing suit this summer & go swimming. Deadline: by August 31, 2014

My Program:
1. Strength training at least 3 days/week.

2. Heart pumping cardio/interval training at least 2 days/week.

3. Walk, bike or combo walking/biking at least 5 miles/day, 5x/week. Separate from cardio/interval training.

4. Eat real food & choose the healthy route most of the time. Live the 80-20 rule: "Because while you should always aim to eat healthy most of the time, aiming for about 80% of the time gives you that wiggle room every sane person needs to still enjoy themselves."

5. Read inspirational stories from other Spark members to stay motivated.

6. Blog about how my health/fitness journey is going.

Personal Information:
I'm a blues singer from Cambridge, MA. I am very lucky to be able to pursue my passion in life (music). I love to bike and I use my bike as my primary mode of transport. I enjoy good food/wine as well as cooking for friends and family. I believe in the law of attraction and that positivity attracts positive results. I consider myself a student in the school of life and enjoy learning something new each day.

If you don't drink booze, never mind, but here's my recipe for a great drink for singing, when your throat isn't your best or any time at all, that my singing partner and I named "A wee nip of courage":

Brew (strong) Throat Coat tea and Peppermint tea together
Add honey to taste and a shot of Southern Comfort
Stir; enjoy; sing your heart out.

Thank you, the explanation made a lot of sense. I just think they say there will be times when things get that way. It is sometimes over doing it without a break (which I know is not you ) sometimes just being sick makes a few days harder or maybe not eating enough to sustain that level. Hope things don't stay that way

"Many things are simply not going to happen with just one, or three, or even a dozen attempts. Yet anything becomes possible with enough persistence.
Keep going, and allow your efforts to build upon one another. Keep going, and transform the disappointments into achievements.
You have what it takes to keep going, because all it ever takes is just one more step forward.
Keep going, and work your way steadily to the richest rewards you can imagine."
-- Ralph Marston

Hope your week is going great, Spark friend! Keep taking those steps towards your goals. Never give up! As long as you keep going, you will succeed. You are always worth your best effort!
