UPDATE, APRIL 16 2012 I had total knee replacement surgery on the right knee! I was over due and glad it was done. Now struggling with recovery. I has been 4 weeks and have had a big set back with the quad muscle being weaker then it should and now it likes cramp up on me. The cramping however seems to be from my lower back issues. Just trying to keep it all together so I am not doing another surgery so soon. I was able to get into the pool today for pool therapy. I love the pool, it takes so much weight off and allows you to do so much more. Two more weeks and I see the doctor again for a 6 week check up. I have to be bending the knee more then 90 degrees by that time. I can laying down but not sitting. Must work on that aggressively!! I also want off the walker by then and not needed the cane to much either. I can do this, 4 more weeks to go before I can drive too!! That has been driving me nuts! I would love to just get up and go! What I really want is to have privacy again! So tired of people coming in on me in that bathroom and shower asking if I need help or what can they do. I of course still need help getting in and out of tub so these next 4 weeks can't pass soon enough!!! I can do this!!! I can do this!!! I can do this!!!!

UPDATE MARCH 2012...Lost 4.4 lbs in Feb. Didn't quiet make my goal of 5lbs but better then January. I am improving with the PT and looking forward to the next 4 weeks to get more strength in my leg. Trying to lose another 5lbs in March. Cleaning out and decluttering my life as I physically and mental prepare for a new knee.

UPDATE 01/29/2012...Jan was a bust with weight. Up and down with the same 2 or 3 lbs. But not doing anything will do that! This week I finally got my wish and I WILL BE GETTING A NEW KNEE IN APRIL. That means I MUST lose 10 lbs before the surgery. I have 11 weeks exactly to do this. The doctor is not saying this I AM!!! I want to be lighter and not be dragging this huge butt around with one leg for 6 weeks!!!!!! So bring it on and lets see what a new knee will mean to me!!!

UPDATE 01/01/2012...HAPPY NEW YEAR! What a year 2011 was for me. I ended up putting my weight lose on the shelf. This year I am taking it off the shelf and getting it under control. It will be a huge challenge with traveling, new health issues, and simple procrastination. I know what to do and can see that SP has helped me out before. Keys will be, small meals, exercise, water and limit wheat. I have wiped the slate clean here and looking forward to new challenges.
UPDATE 10/5/2011...Heart ok! but stomach empties very slow! Yes another health issue. I have gone off wheat. I learned about something called a "wheat belly" by Dr.William Davis. Look it up. It is amazing! Our wheat today has been "mutated" to grow faster and yield more crops. It is making us very sick!! I think it is anyway. My dh is allergic to wheat and I think I have an intolerance to it. So we have been off the wheat for a little over a week now. I am blogging about it. It has been very hard to do this. I am a huge pasta and bread eater. I hate veggies! So this has been a true experience for me. I am not sure we will continue with it but will wait until the 19th to make that call. I have another stomach scope to see how things are going. I will be interested in seeing if the inflammation has gone away and the food is emptying better. I am losing weight. Lost 5lbs from sept 29th to now. I know a lot of it is water if not all. I am in an Oct 5lb challenge. I have lost 1 pound so far. I am looking forward to being under 190 again. Lots of trips and holidays coming up so hope I can stick with this for awhile.

UP.DATE 6/9/11...well nothing good to report! didn't get weight off before the big wedding that will take place in 15 days. I can maybe lose 1 or 2 lbs before then but not going to try super hard. I am in such a funk! I just found out that I have an abnormal ekg and need a stress test and echo. i can't walk well or move well so have to have the chemical stress test. worried to death about having a heart attack on the table!! ugh...i really cannot take anymore health news! I am not even 50 yet!! I am bummed!!!!!!!!!!!!!

UPDATE 1/1/2011...It has been a long time since I have been here. I have gained all my weight back, I am still fighting health issues, and found out a year ago I have a genetic disorder but not showing symptoms yet. Not sure what I am going to do here. I have a wedding in June to attend and need to lose some weight but just not motivated or physically feel up to it.

UPDATE 1/12/09...
The new year hasn't been so kind. Trying to find a doctor who will listen to me about my pain and "want" to help me out is getting very hard to do. I have gone part time at work and sure hope that helps me with my medical issues. New doctor took me off diabetes and thyroid meds saying I never needed them to begin with....???....we shall see what happens. Family members have been sick or have had surgeries.
On an upbeat note, I have been walking on the treadmill at the gym provided by the apartment complex. The only issue I have, being winter, is walking there and back (slippery with ice and wet from sweating just not a good combo).
I am looking forward to getting my dog back from my Mother and walking her everyday again. February will be a bit messy but well worth having her back with us.
No resolutions this year, I know what I have to do, so just doing it!

UPDATE 11/04/08...
October has come and gone. I have improved my fruit/veggie intake and have lost half the weight on my small goal. So feel like I am heading in the right direction again. Being election day I feel like there will be a lot of changes happening. Not only in the USA but with me. I was diagnosed with Osteoporosis of the spine. I am still gathering info, seeking doctors, and trying to figure out diet and exercises. I have been keeping up with my many meds which is a huge accomplishment for me. Lets hope it continues and I get on board with the exercise this month.

UPDATE 9/30/08....
trying again....didn't do anything from last update. Gained 5lbs according to the doctors scale, all test are elevated :( I have gone back to step 1. I am trying to enter my food and made a small goal of losing 10lbs by mid-december. We shall see if I can get back on track once more.

UPDATE 6/08.....
I didn't make my last goal to be 20lbs lighter by this time, but have maintained the weight I lost. I have truly slacked off with all the stress of selling a house and moving (yes sold that house and now into apt waiting to move back "home" to help take care of the folks). I am starting a new. I entered my food today and it was way to high. I get lots of exercise with my job but know I need to do some more actual exercise like weights and cardio. I need to go back to drinking lots of water and not all the diet cokes. So I just need to focus on myself and do what is best for me. I can do

Jan 18, 2008 was the one year mark! So hard to believe that it has been a year. Time has flown by and loving every minute of it here. I have made so many new friends. It has been wonderful to have so much support. I lost 25lbs using spark and 3lbs before spark so a total of 28lbs lost in 2007. I want to lose another 30lbs in 2008. I have started working again which has been a challenge to be true to my goals. I have a hard time getting water in during the day so want to improve on that. Since I am retail I get plenty of exercise at work. Non stop walking, up and down ladders, lifting boxes or moving them around. My weakness is trying to do some exercise of some sort on my days off, will try to improve on that too. I carry my lunch so just need to pack better lunches.

Update, I have been with SP now for 5 mths. I have lost 19 lbs with SP, lost 3 lbs before starting, total of 22 lbs. I have 16 more lbs to go before I reach my goal. I have hit a plateau and getting frustrated. However, my SP friends are good to me and will help me through this. I so want to be at my SP goal by end of July. So lets get motivated and do this right!!!!

Welcome to the Knee/Hip Replacement team! I have news for you...you will NOT be dragging anything around with ONE leg. You WILL be walking the same day of surgery. I had a walker for a week and then "graduated" to a cane for a few weeks. It's a snap! Remember to keep doing your knee exercises! The more you do them, the quicker your recovery will be! Let us know the date of your surgery so we can post it on our "surgery" thread!
