Of course I'm going to try and help you on your questions - that's the whole point of Spark, for us to be here for one another. Repay the favor - go read my new blog posted today, and help me stay accountable! 1791 days ago
Hi there! I'm responding to your question on the C25K Week1 message board about speed & incline. I had gotten a couple responses but most people said to not worry about speed at first and that you might need to go slower to last longer. I also noticed on other people's posts that some were faster than me, some were slower and some were similar. I stuck with walking at 3.4 / 3.5 and running at 5mph on the treadmill through the whole thing. (No incline - though some people say you should set it at 1 if you want to better mimic running outside.)
Then when I finished the program, I started doing 5.1 & 5.2 mph and then I found a beginners speed program that I share with you if you want. I've also started running outside when the weather is nice - there is a trail around my neighborhood (nice & flat!) and my "natural" pace has been more like 5.3mph but I only run about 2.5 miles.
Welcome! If you need a shoulder, a friend or a virtual coffee at some point, drop by and say hello! I've just celebrated my SP seven month anniversary and am amazed at the absolutely incredible amount of support I've received. This is a fabulous site and you will be astounded at what you get out of it if you give it your all.
To celebrate your arrival at SP this Spring season, I would like to wish you a brand new start, never-ending moments of poise and balance and a joyful tip over on the scale to the side of light. I wish you a new dawn, an eternal youth and a morning star to wish on. Whatever battles you are fighting, whatever stresses may come your way, may they melt away with the winter and may you be granted a time of new light and a new life where your wildest dreams come true. ~ Michelle
For your kind comment! My epilepsy is something I've had a very hard time dealing with, especially lately. I never thought of looking it as winning a battle! That's a great attitude to have; thank you for suggesting it!
And I'm glad I could be a motivation! 1803 days ago
