I have struggled with my weight my entire life. I have tried every diet and read so my weight loss books. I joined a weight loss group called TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) in 1999. It took me two years to lose 145Ibs. I still attend TOPS meetings weekly. I need the group support and need the weekly weigh in. I eat a low fat diet with lots of fruits and vegetables. I eat lean protein mainly chicken or pork. I exercise twice a day when possible. I love to walk outside and ride my bike. I joined a Fitness Center four years ago. I try to lift weights 2 to 3 days a week. I use the treadmill, elliptical trainer, and ride an exericse bike. I'm trying to train to run in a 5k race. I had maintained my weight until January 2009. I had Abdominal Plastic surgery to have my excess stomach skin removed. I've had many very painful sores and infections on my abdomin due to all my extra skin folds from the weight loss. This surgery was very tramatic. I lived in a lazyboy recliner for three months. I could not lie in a bed for over three weeks. I could not do anytype of exercise for 3 months after my surgery. I just about went crazy with no physical activity. I watched every bite of food that I ate. I gained about 15Ibs. and have only lost about 5Ibs. since I started exercising again. It's been so frustrating that I'm having such a hard time getting the extra pounds off. When I went in for my physical my physcians assistant told me about Sparkpeople. I'm learning my way around the site and love it! I hope this site can help me get my extra pounds off. Wish me luck!!!

Hi, Brenda,

We are enjoying beautiful weather this week in Colorado! Went out today and found a lavendar/purple platter to paint for my grandbaby. Will show her birth statistics, etc. I will have to paint a baby's first Christmas and I am thinking of painting the cover on a photo album, too.
A friend from TOPS asked me today if I could write some short poems for Valentine cards our group can make for a member who is recovering from health problems. She wants to make them more personal for her so I have tried my hand and written seven so far!

Hi, Brenda,

Thank u for the Spark Goodie. I am so excited for my baby girl, guess u can tell! I think I will paint a platter with a baby girl on it, show her name and birthdate, weight and length. I might get a box (like a Xerox paper box) and cover it with baby wrapping paper to store the things I will accumulate before she comes!
It is snowing and cold here, too!

Good morning, Brenda. Sounds like you are going to have some wonderful days ahead, watching your grandson! I have been very fortunate in being able to watch Landon and Seldyn when they were babies, I ABSOLUTELY loved it. I'm hoping that when the new grandbaby gets here, I will be able to watch him/her.
We've got some warm temperatures heading our way, SO looking forward to that. I'm already tired of the cold. emoticon We didn't get any of the snow and ice that came through, REALLY happy about that. I've been using my Leslie Sansone DVD's to get my exercise in, my joints don't do well in the cold.
Hope you're having a wonderful week! Stay warm.
