My weight loss journey got Sparked by a "Biggest Loser" competition at work. I came in second in the competition, losing a total of 24 pounds in 8 weeks, and, more importantly, I did it by making healthy changes to my diet and exercise.
I've continued these changes past the end of the competition, striving to make permanent lifestyle changes that I can maintain for the long haul. My sights are set on meeting my weight loss goal by my 40th birthday. I want to start the next decade of my ...

I've continued these changes past the end of the competition, striving to make permanent lifestyle changes that I can maintain for the long haul. My sights are set on meeting my weight loss goal by my 40th birthday. I want to start the next decade of my life looking and feeling better than I have in years!

My Program:
I am counting calories daily, and also doing yoga, running and cycling, and strength training at home. Tracking is a major part of my success. I'm also using a virtual through hike of the Appalachian Trail as a motivator- every pound I lose is roughly 31 miles of progress along the AT. Getting to the top of Mount Katahdin at the end of my journey will feel like a huge accomplishment!
Personal Information:
I live in Maine and am a special education teacher in a school for kids with behavioral, developmental and mental disabilities. I am currently working primarily with kids with autism.
I love to cook and consider myself a "foodie" - I definitely hate the DIET word. I am making healthy choices that still satisfy my love of great food. I've been getting active again and it feels great to be biking and running again after years of being sedentary.
Other Information:
We are what we repeatedly do. -Aristotle
