Starting Over

I am working toward a new healthier lifestyle. I don't want to diet anymore- I want to live healthy!

My focus will be on making healthier choices in the foods I eat and sneaking some exercise into my daily routines.
I want to follow the good example set for me by my family.

Last month my oldest son was married to a wonderful woman. I am very happy to call her one of my daughters.

I've set a new goal of 20 lbs. off by Easter. For a reward, I will ...

I've set a new goal of 20 lbs. off by Easter. For a reward, I will get new gym shoes or work out clothes.

I have slipped up over the past few years and need to start over with a better attitude. I'm going to try doing South Beach since so many people have had success. Today, 2/10/2013 is my first real day to start. I hope to stay on phase one until Easter- except Sundays- when I'll go to Phase 2.

Besides starting back on Spark and South Beach, I've made a goal to start exercising again. I want to start slow- maybe 10 minutes 4 days/week and add 10 minutes more per day each week until Easter Sunday.

My Goals:
Lose 20 lbs. by Easter
Increase my stamina to be able to jog for 1 mile.
Do 10 sit ups.
Do 10 push ups.
Lose 35 lbs. by our August vacation.
Lose 50 lbs. by next February.



My Program:
Walk 4 times/week
Eat 3 or more servings of low carb veggies a day.
Drink 4-8 cups of water/day.
Log what I eat (count calories) and maintain calories under 1500 6 days per week.
Stick to South Beach Diet.



Personal Information:
In love with my husband Kev He is the most incredible husband. My rock.
My kids are great!
My oldest is 31 and does electric work and art. He is married to Dina and they own a house in Richmond.
My second child died in 2008. He had graduated with a computer science degree and wanted to create Christian Computer games.
My third child is a teacher and married to Chris, a wonderful young man who owns his own landscaping business.
My next child attends University of Maryland. She is studying to be a mechanical engineer and hopes to focus on biomedical applications.
My baby is 16. She is a dancer and very good student. She loves animals and is making a website for her Gold Award Project for Girl Scouts.


Other Information:
I survived ovarian cancer in 2000.
I have an electrical engineering degree.
I have a systems engineering degree and technical management degree.
I have my 90 hour teaching certificate.
I have taught master's level classes at Johns Hopkins and 2-5 year olds in a Christian preschool.
I love animals and have a dog, cat, fish, and cockatiel.
I have rappelled down inside a cave. I have been whitewater rafting. I love adventure and travel.
I currently attend a Methodist church. I have been a member of the Catholic and Lutheran churches in my lifetime. I have a firm belief in God and the good He brings to our lives, even in times of adversity.
