H E L P ! ! ! My hubby just retired, discovered FaceBook(and is a goner there), we're moving to Florida in a couple of months and before I end up a self basting turkey I HAVE GOT TO LOSE SOME FAT!

I still work and want to continue to work especially after seeing what effect it's had on hubby. I'm ready to put a camera on his easy chair to see if he ever leaves it. LOL! I know he does...I see him go to bed at night at least.

Ever since my knees went out on me walking is PAIN... which is a shame because I really do like walking around the neighborhood. It's amazing to see how fast weight piles on when you suddenly can't walk. I'm hopeful though and I will just do 'baby steps' if need be.

I really hope that everyone here learns to enjoy their journey. C U on Spark!

I am so sorry for the late reply. With the popular blog post I got flooded with comments to respond to, and I got behind.

Thank you for the very thoughtful reply regarding my digestive health. This has been an ongoing battle since February. If it were stress- or diet-related, I doubt it would go on this long. To call it chronic constipation is sort of an understatement. It has lasted for months, and on a given day I take 2-3 different laxatives just to stay regular. And the other symptoms of hypothyroid are there too - flaky skin, hair falling out, excessive fatigue, etc. The blood tests say that my thyroid function is healthy. The doctor recommended fiber and lots of water ... which I have been doing and tracking since May. Clearly something is still out of place.

I might schedule another visit with the GI specialist to discuss different medicine, or just maybe it's possible to have symptoms of hypothyroid while numbers are still in range?

This isn't exactly proper conversational matter, so I try to keep fairly quiet on this subject. But thank you for your concern. I will try to keep you updated for any developments :)

You are so sweet! And, you are right on the mark. I am truly blessed to have a family like this...ups and downs and challenges like any other, but still it's the one I have and wouldn't trade it for any other! Thank you, my friend!! Hugs, Jeannie

Thank you for encouraging me on my blog!

In my case, 20 pounds took me from nearly obese on the BMI chart to healthy. And I also adopted lifestyle changes - seriously revised my diet and exercised more frequently. :)

Hi! Thanks so much for the supportive comments :) I have to say, though, that I am actually FAR away from my goal....I've decided to do short-term goals now because it feels much less overwhelming to say I have 15 pounds to lose, than I have 80 pounds to lose. And I will (hopefully) have several successes along the way, rather than one more step completed towards a very distant goal. I have to play the mind games with myself :) emoticon

Hi, I am new to the site, and I saw a post you added to a yoga video. it is so inspiring that you have done so well and are able to walk without your cane. I see on your page that you are having trouble with your knees, so sorry. If you have to use your cane to enjoy your walks that is better than not walking. I just need encouragement to do anything!! thanks for sharing your story.
Debbie
