I've now been a member of Sparkpeople for 28 months and continue to be inspired by all the wonderful people, information and activities on this wonderful site! My journey to be the healthiest me I can be, continues... I've now lost over 110 pounds and am within ten pounds of my goal weight. (Which will put me at the high end of normal on the BMI scale!) Of course, I've battled with this last ten pounds, but... I will NOT give up... I feel so much better physically, mentally, and emotionally thanks to Sparkpeople and my healthier lifestyle! So I shall follow my own advice and keep on keeping on! :)

My Goals:
This goal too, has evolved over the past twenty-eight months, as my 51st birthday has come and gone and I did NOT meet my ultimate goal of being normal on the BMI scale; however I will NOT give up.. as this is NOT a race to a finish line, but an ongoing RACE to be the best I can be!!!! I will get where I need/want to be as long as I stay in the race!
Refuse to give up!!!

My Program:
In order for me to meet my BIG goals, I have established some smaller, bite sized goals .
1. Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day,
2. Track everything I eat and drink EACH and every day.
3. Do at least 30 minutes of cardio five days a week. (Preferrably 60 minutes)
4. Do upper body, lower body and core building exercises on a rotating basis five days a week.
5. Remember a set back doesn't mean failure, it's just another opportunity to start fresh.

Personal Information:
I'm 51 years old and have been married to the same man since I was 18, which means we'll be celebrating our 33rd anniversary this year. We have three grown children and five grandchildren, ranging in ages from six to fifteen months. To say that they are my everything would be an understatement... I have many loves in my life but these five angels definitely top the list.

Other Information:
I've had the privilege of being a teacher for the past twenty-five years and continue to LOVE teaching today, almost as much as I did when I first started so many years ago.

    Hi there! Thanks for reading and commenting on my blog. Nutritarian is basically a diet-style that focuses on attaining health through superior nutrition. Dr. Joel Fuhrman coined the term, and has written several books on nutrition and it's potential to reverse and prevent disease. This is not a fad-diet where you restrict one macro-nutrient (fat, carbs, protein) in favor of another, this is a style of eating you can thrive with for life, and it just so happens that weight-loss is a by-product of this healthful way of eating. :D I hope you do research it a bit, I've been really excited about it. Since I started eating this way a couple of months ago I haven't had a single gall-bladder flare up and what I suspected for the past couple of years to be arthritis starting in my hands and elbow is gone now. After only a week of eating this way my dad says his blood pressure normalized and he's also down about 30 lbs now (he started the same time my husband and I did). I'll have to ask him about his arthritis, his is actually diagnosed, so I really am curious. Anyhow, sorry for the wall of text! Thanks again for commenting! Best wishes.
