Before- sort of.
I hope this is a good idea of how I'll look at my goal. She's HOT!!!
December 2- My 20lb reward haircut!
Welcome to my little corner. It is very much under construction!
I've always been on the heavier side. Part of my struggle has been that I had pretty severe asthma when I was growing up- to the point where I had to plan my activity very carefully. (If I was going out in the evening, I couldn't walk around the mall during the day, for example). I didn't realize how inactive I'd become- and how poorly managed my asthma was until I moved to a completely different area of the country- a much drier area- and my asthma seemingly disappeared overnight. (I was 23 years old when I first felt "normal" out of breath).
I did lose a decent amount of weight but I've gained it all back and more. Losing the weight was easy because I was sharing accommodations with others that involved sharing meals for the most part. I would eat until I was satisfied and then my roommate would finish the rest. (It was a great arrangement).
I'm a musician (French Horn, Piano, Voice- in that order) but that's not my day job! I really work for the government, which is very satisfying. Scottish Country Dancing is definitely high on my list of favourite things to do! I'm also an avid reader, and cross-stitcher.

I thought I added this yesterday but I guess I forgot to save it. (Kind of typical of my technological gaffes).
I've been thinking about setting some mini goals and rewards. Here's what I've got so far:
237 lbs (-20): a brand new spunky haircut- MET 2008/12/01 (235 lbs)
200 lbs: new runners
175 lbs: Knee high boots (if my calves are small enough!)
150: Shopping spree!!!

I haven't done as well as I would have liked through this winter. It wasn't a waste because I did do a lot of learning. I also made a lot of improvements to my life that don't involve my weight loss goals. (I may not have been especially active on SP, but I did continue logging my food and activity). I have regained 10 lbs. However, I have kept off 17 lbs.
I will not give up.

This year has been the Year of Self Improvement for me. I've taken a hard look at my finances and have plan to get out of debt AND have enough saved to return to New Zealand within the next three years. I've made significant improvements in my bad habits. I've learned how to take care of my living space, including a major purge of all my old junk. I'm doing better at taking care of my body: flossing, moisturizing, being careful about sun exposure, etc.
I've begun to love myself just as I am. That doesn't mean I think my weight is okay. It's still in the red zone. But I forgive myself and I'm committed to changing the habits that got me here. I deserve a strong, healthy body. I'm worth it.

I'm still here. I'm still plugging away. I'm enjoying a real burst of motivation this past few weeks. Now I just have to harness it.
I'm committed- no matter how long it takes, no matter how many setbacks I encounter. I deserve to have a healthy body that works well.

There have been a lot of changes in my life over the past couple of years that have precluded me from focusing wholly on my health. Some of the burdens have lifted, though, and I feel more ready to tackle my health than ever.
I can do this.
I will do this.
2014 will mark BIG positive changes towards me achieving a strong, healthy body.
January 5, 2017
I know, I know. I've said it all before.
There have been some big changes in my life over the past 3 years. I've changed jobs yet again, bought a house, dealt with grief over the passing of two significant people, bought and crashed a car (no injuries - thankfully!)
There have been a lot of challenges - at least, compared to my first decades of life! I did my best, but self-care has definitely been a problem.
So, this year, I want to do things a lot differently. Yes, I'm heavier than I've ever been. No, I haven't officially weighed in yet. (One of these days, I'll remember to do that before breakfast!) I'm also not sure what I'm going to do to set my goals.
You see, while, yes, I would really love to lose A LOT of weight, that's not something I think I should focus on. I think I developed an all-or-nothing mentality in the past, and I got discouraged and just gave up.
This time around, I'm more focused on the feelings:
- I want to feel comfortable inside my skin (I don't)
- I want to feel strong and powerful (I don't)
- I want to have the energy to ACT in the world (I don't)
- I want to improve my flexibility
- I want my asthma to improve
So, I need to track my nutrition, in order to improve on feeding myself healthy, energy-rich, nutritious foods. I need to track my activity, because only by moving more will I gain the strength, endurance, and greater energy to be an actor in the world. I need to blog. (I'll blog about my reasons!)
So, I'm back. And I'm eager for these changes.
Feel strength and power in my body.
Have greater flexibility.
Improve my energy level.
Live a more active lifestyle.
Change my relationship to food and activity in order to maintain a healthy weight.
1- Carefully monitor portion sizes.
2- Increase intake of fresh fruits and veggies.
3- Drink plenty of water.
4- 30 minutes of intentional activity each day.
Currently living in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
