The End of the Girl Who Stood in Her Own Way

My name is Amanda. I am in my late twenties, happily married, and entering into my junior-senior year of college as a psychology major. I work part time as a retail associate and also through the local community college as a "peer mentor."

I started 2014 at 207lbs, which is the heaviest I have ever been. This happened as a result of a sedentary lifestyle, unhealthy habits, poor responses to stress and lethargy, and overwhelming indifference. I've made several half-hearted attempts over the years to lose various amounts of weight with brief success, but nothing permanent.

In March, something just clicked. I am still unsure what prompted the decision, but I managed to eliminate soda as a staple of my diet, make smarter decisions with food choices, and even began to make exercise a priority. I am now seventy-five days into this lifestyle change. There are days where I am imperfect, where I slip up or skip a workout, but this isn't a perfect process. I understand now that the setbacks won't derail my progress, just the same as the good days aren't going to automatically undo the bad things.

I am a cynical, self-deprecating dork who loves Game of Thrones a bit too much and reads a lot. I love to hike, write, and go full-force in anything I do. Sometimes I can be overly enthusiastic. Thanks for stopping by!

Sorry it's taken so long to get back to you. Things are crazy here right now...

So, here's a link to what my tattoo looks like, and the card behind it: http://instagram.com/p/p8tv1WCjw9/

Thanks for stopping by my page! It seems like you're really making some positive changes. :) I love the Steve Jobs quote on here - hadn't heard that one before but there's a lot of truth in it.

I hope you enjoy the journaling! It feels really liberating for me to write out my thoughts and feelings. It may take a little while to get into it, but I love it, and it's a cool way to look back on your progress.

Have a wonderful week!

" I am only human, and one soda, one skipped workout, or one bad day are not going to completely ruin me, just the same as one successful day isn't going to automatically fix everything. Its accepting the good with the bad, and always having a backup plan!"

I'm going to put this on my wall!

Heh. So I have a list of a few good friends here to check up on periodically - because my friend list is a bit too big to keep up with it ALL - and I went to my bookmark for your page and it said that page didn't exist! I thought you'd deleted your account again for a moment. I even went and readded you old account, thinking maybe you'd gone back there. Then I went to my friend list and found you'd just changed your name, haha. Glad you're still here!
