Keep Moving Forward

It's time to be honest, with others and most of all myself. It's hard to share this part of my life, something that I am very ashamed of. But if I am going to be successful, I need to stop hiding because I am DONE!

It's time to be honest, with others and most of all myself. It's hard to share this part of my life, something that I am very ashamed of. But if I am going to be successful, I need to stop hiding because I am DONE!

I have been fat my whole life, well just about my whole life. I had a couple good years between the ages of 1 and 4. So, my weight has been an issue for many, many years and has gotten progressively worse. I have been on almost every diet imaginable, but could never stick with anything beyond three weeks. I've never given up though and I never will.

In January 2008 I decided to make another attempt at losing weight. I was and am tired of letting life pass me by. For several years I had been hovering around 440lbs. which was my highest weight. I changed my eating habits and cut out my blended coffees and sodas. I had many ups and downs between January and June of 2008 but I managed to lose 55lbs.

In July 2008 after a friend told me about Sparks I joined in the Sparks Adventure on July 27th 2008 weighing 385lbs. I knew Sparks was exactly what I needed to help me stay motivated. I am so encouraged by the people who are here and love reading their stories. They inspire me to keep moving forward.

On August 16th, 2008 I weighed in at 375lbs. I knew this was a big victory for me since I haven't seen 375lbs for over 10 years. My mind can't seem to wrap around the numbers though, maybe that's why I let myself get so big. I must have had those delusion goggles on. I am definitely feeling better, seeing small changes in the mirror, and my clothes are not as snug.

My next goal is to reach 350lbs. I hope to reach this goal by October 1st. ***Made it to 360 lbs. 10 lbs short.***

Update 10/10/08- I've set my next goal to reach 340, which will be my 100 lbs. lost mark. I'm not setting a date, because that discourages me rather than motivates me. I just know I want that 100 lb. loss and I'm going to work for it!---GOAL MET 11/19/08---!!!

Update December 31, 2008--I didn't meet my goal weight of 315lbs., but I accomplished a 100 lb. loss for 2008. I'm looking forward to 2009...new goals, challenges, and adventures!

January 2010-- a brand new year and a fresh start!
February 4, 2010--360 lbs. (I struggled with whether or not to get on the scale because I knew I had gained back weight. But I realized that a big part of the reason I was successful in 2008 was because I was finally honest with myself. So I'm being honest now. I've gained 30 lbs. back in the last 5 months. Giving me a new total weightloss of 80 lbs.) Now, that I've admitted it, let's get to work!

My Goals:
I want to be healthy, not just lose weight or be skinny. I want every area of my life healthy...physical, spiritual, and mental. To date I have lost 80 lbs. ***
My total loss has been 112 lbs. achieved in Sept. 09.

My Program:
Drinking a lot of water. I also love blended coffee drinks! Oh yumm! But I limit those now in order to stay focused on losing weight. I'm a person who doesn't need a lot of variety with food so my routine is pretty set. I eat five smaller meals a day and have some protein with each meal. My priority is getting all my recommended servings of fruits, vegies and all the other good stuff from the pyramid.

Exercise was never a part of my life, now I'm trying to make it a daily habit. I workout at the small gym at my office after work using the treadmil. I alternate days and also use the stationary bike at they gym. At home I have Taebo, some Richard Simmons tapes, and a gazelle. So whatever I'm in the mood for I do.

hi There! How are you? I haven't been on sp in forever. I am on again/off again. Really trying to be 'on again' more often then off. Getting back with exercising, having a hard time being consistent! How are things going with you? emoticon

emoticon Yourwelcome!!! It's been the weekend and the hubby home so it's been hard but i got swimming tomarrow and get my work out and thurs nite to and get on the scale . i need to go get my rear in gear and do some shopping but it's been so darn cold i hate to get out in it . my job at 500 driving bus gets me out in this nasty weather... and i just come home rest and stay warm .. but i need to write down and pre plan my steps , that helpsme alot... have a great week friend and talk to you soon .. take care . your pal.Jean
