Goals are for achieving!

My kids are setting a good example for me! There was a time, when they were growing up, that I set that good example for them. Now they are the ones--all grown up (but living at home still), who are eating well, exercising, losing weight, and being their healthiest! I'm so proud of them! I need to follow suit and start taking better care of myself, too--like I used to. They are my inspiration!!!

My Goals:
By eliminating processed foods and eating whole foods almost exclusively, I hope to improve my health significantly over the next six months.

My Program:
Since I'm already doing an hour-long strength training class twice a week, concentrating on cardio needs to be my priority as far as exercise is concerned--and as much as possible. Keep the ipod charged!

Personal Information:
My name is Carol. I am 56, married with 2 young college-age children who still live at home. I am striving to get my health back as menopause has hit hard. My motivation is high, but I am in need of support to continue.

Other Information:
I'm a real health-nut, reading any article, book, magazine, or trying any healthy recipe I can get my hands on!

"Above all else, do NOT quit! The universe always bows to persistence.
The empowering approach is to see your physical challenges as assets, because overcoming obstacles forces you to develop discipline, determination and character.
These traits will carry over to other areas of your life and make you a stronger person.

Hi Carol:

I got my first bags of potato starch from Amazon, after noticing who had the lowest shipping, but I just found it at our local organic food store. Same price, no shipping so that works for me. Anyone who carries a full range of Bobs Red Mill should have it.

It doesn't have much of a taste nor is it especially chalky, but I decided I don't like it in my AM smoothy. I just mix it with water. The mix doesn't have a taste that I notice. I've seen a recommendation to mix it with seltzer but I tried that and I think I prefer just plain water.

Thanks for reading the blog!

thank you for your support on my blog and for your kind words to me.
I did end up having a good/bad cry.....hate feeling this way. Have not cried in a long time.
I made it to the gym, walked 33 minutes at 5 % incline.
It is a start.
Like my new hair, dark brown, jeff likes it too.
Threw some catfish in the oven and going to steam some sugar snap peas for dinner.
Snacked on some almonds.
6 pm....
going to watch some reruns of our favorite show "Lost"
will probably have some pop corn with the show.
