Learning to Be Healthy

I've been here for almost three years now. In that time I've made a lot of progress in meeting my goals. My weight is at a healthy level, and I'm focused on creating a healthful diet and an active lifestyle that I can maintain forever!

I've been here for almost three years now. In that time I've made a lot of progress in meeting my goals. My weight is at a healthy level, and I'm focused on creating a healthful diet and an active lifestyle that I can maintain forever!

Since April '09 I've been here, trying to get a healthier diet and life. I continue to work on building healthy habits, cutting back on refined sugar, eating more fruits and vegetables, and creating a better daily diet for myself in general. I try to exercise 3-4 times a week. My favorite activity is taking ballet classes, but I have a hard time getting to them these days. I also dabble with Wii games (EASA, DDR, Just Dance and Wii Fit), walking and jogging.

My Goals:
Improve my eating habits with healthier choices, including eating at least five servings of fruits and vegetables daily; decreasing the amount of refined sugar, white flour and sweets I consume; making time every week to exercise.

Other Information:
SP Goals for 2012:

*Keep deficit at around 250-300 daily
*Burn at least 1750 daily - minimal activity level for me
*Keep sodium under 1800
*Work on reducing overall carb grams - not sure of a number to aim for but I feel better when my protein is a bit higher and my carbs are a bit lower.
*Flax seed daily
*8 glasses of water daily, not counting coffee
*Check in daily on SP and keep up with SP friends for mutual support and encouragement

Like you, CASSIECAT, I have been here a long time so now it' just maintaining and that's a full time challenge....but reading what all you people out there are doing to get thin and to stay thin encourages me so much.....finding and eating good for you food in today's world is a challenge, especially when most around you are not into better eating....I am very thankful for this site and it's fine members..... emoticon

Cassie, I'm afraid that I'm going to have to decline hosting the Buddy Challenge thread next month. I was actually considering dropping it (which I may or may not do) because I am going to be concentrating on a gym challenge next month which I could track on a blog. Please feel free to ask someone else . . .
