I am reluctant to delete my texts from previous years, but I have been meaning to up date my information. I will be turning 65 this summer (have to sign up for medicare) Can't believe how fast time has gone by.

I am a retired teacher and live on Cape Cod with my husband. We have 5 children and 7 grandchildren who we love dearly! We enjoy walking on most days through the cottage area and down to the beach. In the summer, I have a garden and my husband has a small boat that he uses for fishing. The rest of the year we plan trips and travel. We are looking forward to a land/cruise in Alaska the beginning of June.

Right now I am in the Spring 5% Challenge. I love it! It has motivated me to get back to tracking and watching my calories. I have been back and forth to SparkPeople over many years. It is a terrific online support.

Well here I am, another year has passed. I have been back on SP for 2 weeks now and things are going well.

I am updating my page per instructions from SparkCoach. I started my latest journey with SP on February 4, 2013. Although I have been losing SLOWLY, still I have lost 13 pounds. I am not in this as a race, I have learned to be content with eating better and exercising and feeling healthier. With that said, I do want to lose the last 12 pounds, so I continue......

It is time to update my introduction! I first joined SP in January, 2009, but did not really get into it until July of 2009. I lost 23 pounds by the end of October that year. Unfortunately, I put my back out by raking leaves without pacing myself. (I guess 2 straight days of raking for 4-5 hours is not really good for you) Since that time 3 years ago I have managed to put back on the 20 pounds. My husband and I are retired and have been on several vacations. We love it, but I have managed to lose my motivation and have been making poor nutrition choices. I decided to do the South Beach diet because I know I can lose weight on this dies, and I know that I feel better avoiding the bad carbs. Today is February 4, 2013, the beginning of a new commitment for me.

My goal is to finish what I started back in 2009.

My Program:
I am tracking my food and staying between 1200-1350 calories a day.
I am going to strength class 3 days a week. I try to walk at least 3 miles most days of the week.

Personal Information:
My husband and I are semi-retired, (we keep busy and work flexible part time jobs). We love the Patriots and traveling. We enjoy being on the beach, or hiking in the mountains. We have 5 children and 7 grandchildren. We feel blessed to have such a good life and such a wonderful family.
