Catherine

My life goals are to have a healthy body, a sharp mind, and a happy heart until the day I die; to create beauty wherever I can; to leave the world a better place for my having been here.

I began this SparkPeople journey on 26 January 2009 to lose 25 pounds to get to a healthier weight. However, as I worked toward this goal, my focus changed. I have reached my goal weight, but that has become just a step along my new road.

I haven't used spikes on my shoes. We generally don't have that much ice and snow. Even now we don't have much---I'm getting a little bolder keeping that stride short and not worrying about speed.

When I was a kid we had an encyclopedia. The Alaska entry pictured this enormous cabbage. Not until I grew up did I understand how perfect Alaskas summer climate is for cabbages, cool and long days---sunlight.

You must be good for peppers, last year summer was cool. We did not do great on large peppers. Got a ton of habaneros though. BTW do not make salsa with 5 habaneros and eat it the day before a long run.
