The Ongoing Battle of the Bulge

Battling the Bulge became a losing battle -- especially when your spouse is a mild-mannered beer taster for a small mid-western brewery! I am going to renew my fight with the bulge battle, even though it may hurt my retirement fund! Ha! It seemed that each year I put on a pound here or there until I realized over a span of 10 years (while I was teaching high school) I had put on 30+ extra pounds!

I know my biggest problem is I enjoy the weekends... maybe too much so, that I have to work extremely hard to not let it impact my goals. But I don't want to be one of these people who is constantly saying, "I can't, I'm on a diet!", or "I have to watch what I eat", or "I will be back in two hours -- I have to walk 5 miles each day to maintain my weight." My goal is to lose 35 pounds. I know I didn't put them on overnight, so I know I won't take them off overnight.

It seems harder to lose weight as I approach the dreaded "M" word and am now looking at the other side of age 50 (don't know how it got here so fast?!).
I really want to make a difference in my health so I am around to see my children get older, get married, have their own children, etc.!

My Goals:
I would love to be able to wear a size 7 again. I would love to be able to get my wedding ring off. I would love to be healthy and live to see my grandkids.

My Program:
To meet my goals, I have found out that eating less + exercising more DOES NOT EQUAL weight loss for everyone!

I am currently eating whole foods, cut out all HFCS from my diet, cut out all fake sugars and caffeine, cut out all refined flours, and am only eating whole grains. Just changing that in my diet helped me lose 9 pounds!

Thanks for all the great, positive comments on my blog! (And for the leg raise tip. I'll be joining the Rockettes soon...haha!) I did get clearance today to do light exercises, so I'll be your SP workout buddy once again.

I'd love it if you would join my team - Before The Landfill. You don't have to be crafty, but any comments on ideas are always welcome. I sold two of my melted record bowls at Ms Aimee B's today!!!

Thanks Chris. See you at Make-A-Wish soon if I could ever find time to volunteer!

Welcome to Missourians! Glad to see that the post helped. It helps keep me motivated and I hoped to motivate others as well. I've been on a plateau for about a month. I've changed up a lot of things and it seems to be working. You might check out the "streaking" post also :) Some of us are working on how many days of exercise, staying within calorie range, etc. Lots of good stuff!

Thanks for joining us!
