I'm a working mother of three beautiful school age children. I have been married to my smart and handsome husband for over 10 years. Life is very busy for our family. My work is stressful most days and I really feel its effects. Between home and work I often put my health and well being last.

My intention is to focus on my health, I joined SparkPeople to help me fulfill this intention. My goal is to lose 22.7 lbs. Though this number matters less to me than having an overall healthy and active lifestyle for myself and my family.

I am a pescatarian; I eat fish but no other meat. I love to eat and often my social interactions involve food. I like cooking homemade meals for my family, I work to make them delicious and nutrient dense. I am interested in sustainable food - slow food, organic, locally grown, and fair trade.

I have been practicing yoga for ten years. I started it for the physical benefits but soon realized how positive it is for my mental and emotional health and healing. In 2010 my yoga teacher moved away and asked me to continue her classes. I have since completed a yoga teacher training program and have been teaching local classes two to four times per week.

I live in the Canadian Prairies where the snow is plenitful and winter lasts six months of the year. The benefit to it is all the awesome outdoor activities I get to do, sledding, snow-shoeing, skating, and cross-country skiing. In the warmer months I love walking, biking, and hiking.

A friend, a SparkPeople member, who lost 60 lbs introduced me to SparkPeople. I am so excited about all the tools and resources to help me get and stay on track!

My Program:
- Eating between 1200-1500 calories per day
- Consume more fresh fruit, vegetables, and complex carbohydrates
- Consume more organic and locally grown food
- Take a multi-vitamin, calcium, magnesium, and vitamin D
-Drink 8 glasses of water
- Pratice yoga for 120 minutes 1 or 2 times per week
- Walk 2 miles three times per week
- At least one weekend activity such as skiing, snoe shoeing, biking, or hiking - ideally with my family

    Hi Celeste! I wish I was a recipe person...but I didn't really follow one...on Sunday I put some dried white beans into a 50:50 lamb stock/water mix, and started cooking them. After about 2 hours, I added barley and some pinches of salt and thyme. I then sauted (sp?) an onion, celery, carrot, and when they were cooked soft over low heat I added a bunch of kale. I took them out of the pan, added some flour and a bit more olive oil and made some roux (light--only about 2-3 tbsp of flour) so that it would give the soup some 'hearty-ness', and then added this. I added the veggies about 40 minutes before the soup was ready to eat. That was it! I love reading recipes, but I'm not very good at recording them! What are the two that you usually make?
