Hi! I'm a Kansas mother of two kids. Part-time teacher and part time hospice chaplain. I have steadily gained weight over the last ten years- especially since having my two children. I am a vegetarian and I LOVE good food (maybe a little too much)! I very much want to set a good example of healthy body image for my daughter while I work at losing weight. I also don't want to live a life under the shadow of deprivation and self-loathing. Healthy mind AND a healthy body are my goals.

Hello!! I see that you posted about needing encouragement on the 30 Somethings Team.

When I feel like giving up... I think about where I have come from, and how I don't want to go back there. I take that motivation and run with it.

Are you eating regularly through your day? Every 2-3 hours that you are awake? I find that when I do that - I am less prone to eating after dinner and before bedtime.

Are you really hungry? Or are you just bored? Tired? Restless? If it is true hunger, then give your body something good for it. A few almonds and a piece of fruit, a bit of cheese on whole wheat toast, or a greek yogurt. If you're not truly hungry - then do something to alleviate the boredom, exhaustion, or restlessness.

You can do this! NEVER give up on you!!! EVER!!

Hi, I saw your post on the vegetarian site and your comment about how hard it is to eat this way being from KS. I live in NE and am trying to go veg and it is a huge challenge. Iwould love to get to know you better and learn to live with a meat loving dh and daycare kids and eat the way I want without making it too hard on myself. I love that you're a chaplain as well. Hey Kansas Girl, Welcome to the Sleep apnea team. Come on back and let us know how you are doing. My Dad was from Kansas. We visited the NW Corner many times in the 60s. I also have a friend who recently moved from Central North Kansas. I guess part of my heart is in Kansas. I am hoping to find someone from Oberlin or Jennings.
