BREAKOFDAWN

I am 53, happily married (30 years and counting), 3 children: one married, two in college. Currently an empty nester for the first time in 27 years. I homeschooled our 3 children so this is a big adjustment for me. I have not struggled with weight until hitting the menopause stage. Ideally my goal is to lose 15 pounds. I also want to learn how to do a pull up before Christmas.

Hi Dawn! Thanks for the comment on my blog, I appreciate it! What class did you want to take that was full the other day? I've been taking spin classes for more than a year now and really enjoy them. Hope you're having a great week and can get into the class you want!

Hi Dawn, no it's not a club, I'm still going to the local community recreation center. I've really gotten into spin class and have been taking four a week I enjoy it so much. Last week I tried something new, Ballet Fit. Yeah.......hmmmm....... I've discovered I'm REALLY clumsy! lol! It's a good core and balance workout though in spite of my lack of grace. The instructor is a former dancer from NYC, (she was even in a Michael Jackson video) and is well versed in all kinds of dance, plus she has a sense of humor, which helps those of us who have no dance training feel comfortable and welcome. It's on Wednesdays, so I'll try it again tomorrow. Trying to stretch myself a bit! How about you?

Right now I'm using weight machines at the rec center on a limited basis. I injured my deltoid muscle in my right arm just before Thanksgiving, and have just started trying to lift again. Very carefully as it's still pretty sore and I can tweak it when I move it in certain ways. I've been going to a massage therapist and it's helping, but slowly. Of course, I want it better NOW!
My son got married late this fall and I've posted two blogs with mostly photos if you're interested in seeing them. It was such a beautiful, special day. I think it's the first photos I've ever seen with me in them that I actually like. Losing those 85 pounds makes a huge difference! lol!
Have a great week!

Hi Dawn, no I still go to the local Rec. Center, not working out at home. Well, I did do a LOT of walking around the fields and canals here at home when I watched our son's dog while he was on his honeymoon! lol! The Rec. Center is really affordable and I can use any of the weights/weight machines, cardio machines, take any fitness class, swim (which I don't do as I never learned how), use the sauna or whirlpool, (don't use those either--but I could!) they also have a lazy river they just installed in the pool area that you can walk against for resistance training or for rehab. It's pretty cool, but again, I don't use it as I'm not a water person. Hope you're having a good week! Blessings!
