My name is Stephanie and I'm a 30 year old chemist residing and working in a suburb north of Baltimore MD. In 2007 I made a decision to commit my life to a healthy and active lifestyle. Exercise has become my passion and I love how it makes me feel!

I joined SparkPeople soon after embarking on a mission to drop some weight so that I could fit into the bridesmaid's dress I bought for my cousin's wedding. (The size that fit in the store, and that I ordered, turned out to be too small when I picked it up.) I accomplished this by following the Supreme 90 Day Challenge and met that goal on 8/18/11!

After I finished S90, I was looking for a new challenge- so I signed up with Team in Training to run the 2012 Disney Half Marathon. Through TnT, I raised ~$3,700 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and ran my first 13.1 miles.

The race sparked my love for distance running. In the fall of 2012, I signed up for TnT for another season, this time to run my first full marathon. I was able to raise another $3,500 for the LLS. I hurt my knee after a 20 mile training run.. and had to race injured. I finished the race in just under 7 hours. It meant so much to me to finish.. because sadly, my grandmother and honored patient lost her battle with leukemia only two days before my race. Needless to say, it was a very emotional finish.

This past January I completed my biggest challenge to date- the Dopey Challenge at the 2015 Disney Marathon Weekend! I ran and completed a 5k, 10k, half, and full marathon- for a total of 48.6 miles in 4 consecutive days. Crazy? Yes. Worth it YES! Never put limits on yourself.. if you put your mind, heart, and everything you have into it- you can do ANYTHING!

*Currently entered in the drawing for the 2015 NYC Marathon... wish me luck! Drawing on 3/3.

ONGOING:
Currently, I do HIIT workouts in the morning with Bodyrock.tv. I also take Cardio Kickboxing, Yoga, and Bodypump classes at my gym throughout the week, in addition to running (both on the treadmill and outside), and occasionally the elliptical, and swimming.

My Program:
I track my food intake using the online tracker tool.

I'm working out 5-6 days/ wk- my normal fitness routine includes morning workouts with Bodyrock.tv, and evening workouts involving a class at the gym (kickboxing, yoga, or Bodypump), running (outside or on the treadmill) and sometimes the elliptical.

Long runs on the weekends.. mileage depending on what I'm training for.

    I think you may be accepting someone else’s advice too easily. (Not mine, of course :-) I encourage you to experiment.

    While I’m not doing Atkins, my diet is low-cal which necessarily means low-everything including low-carb. I’ve done a lot of experimenting running with 1500cal/day (i.e., 1000cal/day deficit) and it works - if you train your body to do it. This morning’s long run was 17M and I drank/ate only gatorade; used no gels.

    My dreams are crushed. I can't believe they discontinued the 10miler!! And I thought about trying to pull off doing the race weekend with the group, but since we don't get a chance to do Disney very often, when we do it we go all out and stay out as late every night as possible. I don't think that combined with 48 miles would be a very good idea lol. I'll have to look into the Wine and Dine race. We usually go in OCtober because my little one is a huge Jack and Sally fan and it's the only time they are out and about. Have to do a little more research and see if they add a race in 2017. Thanks for the info
