My name is Stephanie and I'm a 29 year old chemist residing and working in a suburb north of Baltimore MD. In 2007 I made a decision to commit my life to a healthy and active lifestyle. Exercise has become my passion and I love how it makes me feel!

I joined SparkPeople soon after embarking on a mission to drop some weight so that I could fit into the bridesmaid's dress I bought for my cousin's wedding. (The size that fit in the store, and that I ordered, turned out to be too small when I picked it up.) I accomplished this by following the Supreme 90 Day Challenge and met that goal on 8/18/11!

After I finished S90, I was looking for a new challenge- so I signed up with Team in Training to run the 2012 Disney Half Marathon. Through TnT, I raised ~$3,700 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and ran my first 13.1 miles.

The race sparked my love for distance running. I have since run
4 more half marathons, 8 5Ks, and 2 10-milers. In the fall of 2012, I signed up for TnT for another season, this time to run my first full marathon. I was able to raise another $3,500 for the LLS. I hurt my knee after a 20 mile training run.. and had to race injured. I finished the race in just under 7 hours. It meant so much to me to finish.. because sadly, my grandmother and honored patient lost her battle with leukemia only two days before my race. Needless to say, it was a very emotional finish.

In the spring of 2013, I took a break from racing (but not from running!) to focus my time, money and energy preparing for my wedding, which took place in October. But now that all that's behind me.. I'm ready to get back to it! I have a pretty full race schedule this year.. one that I'm hoping will include my 2nd full marathon. Stay tuned!

My Goals:
-To race a sub 2 hr half marathon.

-To lose 20 lbs (as of 2/3/14)

-to run the Dopey challenge at the 2015 Disney Marathon Weekend.

My Program:
I track my food intake using the online tracker tool. I recently joined Weight Watchers and use their online tools as well.

I'm working out 5-6 days/ wk- my normal fitness routines include morning workouts with Bodyrock.tv, and evening workouts involving a class at the gym (kickboxing, yoga, or Bodypump), running (outside or on the treadmill) and sometimes the elliptical. Our gym just opened a new aquatics center.. so I've been trying to get in a swim two days/wk as well.

Long runs on the weekends.. depending on what I'm training for. I plan on using the Jeff Galloway training program to get me through the Dopey challenge.

Other Information:
"I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance...
Never settle for the path of least resistance...
Living might mean taking chances but they're worth taking.
Lovin' might be a mistake but it's worth making.
Don't let some hell bent heart leave you bitter...
When you come close to selling out .. reconsider.
Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance.
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance..
I hope you dance"

"Don't lose your way
With each passing day
You've come so far
Don't throw it away
Live believing
Dreams are for weaving
Wonders are waiting to start
Live your story
Faith, hope & glory
Hold to the truth in your heart"

The Delaware HM and Marathon does have some hills. The most brutal is right before the finish line ! I may check out that AnnApolis 10k. That sounds fun!

You have a busy running schedule.

I ran the 2012 Baltimore Half Marathon. It is my favorite to date! I may run it again. I am running the Delaware HM in May. Which races do you have lined up?

I appreciate you terrific comments on my blog about inspiring others. I've been a physical fitness buff most of my life, but when I was younger no one knew or cared about what I was doing if they knew. It was hard work then, too! But now that I've aged a bit, I get constant comments and remarks. Keep on keeping on and you'll get here too, probably sooner than you'd want to.
