I am a roller coaster fanatic. So is my ex-boyfriend, Danny. Every summer, we make as many trips to Cedar Point as possible. In the summer of 2005, after waiting in line for the front seat of Millennium Force for an hour and a half, our time finally came. Danny got in first and then I got in. It was time to buckle up. The only thing was - I couldn't. I didn't fit. The ride operator told me I needed to get off and I pleaded with her to help me so I could stay. Well, after some time, I got the seatbelt to buckle. But there wasn't enough slack. So after getting help from a different ride operator, I fit correctly and we could go. I was so embarrassed - I'd held up the entire train. Danny, who's as tiny as can be, tried to tell me it was okay, but it wasn't.

I decided that this was the last straw - I needed to lose weight. So, two days after that horrific event, I joined Curves. Eventually summer ended and it was time for me to come to the University of Michigan and I transferred to an Ann Arbor Curves. At my lowest, I had lost 55 pounds. But, I couldn't keep it off.

Since then, I've gone to college, graduated with a degree in chemistry, gone to medical school, graduated, and started my residency in OB/GYN (I'm in my first year now). I'm working hard to lose the weight and keep it off. Follow along if you'd like! Thanks for stopping by!

Is the Midland Curves you mentioned in Midland, Michigan?

I lived there for a number of years while I worked at Dow Chemical (my degree is in Chemistry also). Like you, I contemplated Medical School. I wafted & never committed - stick in there, when you get to be my age (61) you'll be so glad that you didn't let the 20's just drift away!

Sounds like you're doing well on your weight loss journey also!

I just read your story about the roller coaster... the SAME thing happened to me! It was in about 2004, my senior year in highschool, and a bunch of my friends and I went to Darien Lake Six Flags in New York. I LOVE rollercoasters, and I too waited in line for about an hour for the front seat on the superman with a friend of mine. We hopped in, and I couldn't get the belt to buckle either :( I was about 6 inches too big, and there was no way it was happening. I had to get off the ride in front of hundreds of people and take the walk of shame down the platform. I wanted to die and was so humiliated :(

But here we are now, making ourselves healthier and happier! You look like you are doing a great job, so keep up the awesome work :) And who knows, maybe we'll be sitting next to each other one day in the front car of an awesome rollercoaster having the time of our lives! :)
