I have been doing this dance since forever ago. My weight has been a lifetime battle, and my first SP profile debuted in 2007. I've been all over the map, but my greatest obstacle is my mind; I have binge eating disorder, and a few years of high stress have led to me (once again) packing on the pounds.

At the moment, I'm trying a version of 4:3 intermittent fasting combined with mindfulness habits. For exercise, I'm going with strength training, quick and dirty HIIT cardio, and making sure I get up and move around no less often than every waking hour. Simple, small, sustainable changes. No more boomerangs!

I'm lucky to have a partner who is supporting me and keeping me accountable through this process. I thrive on real human interaction, and new connections on here are very welcome... but I'm not a friend collector and I'm not interested in copy/pasted words of encouragement. I want dialogue. Thanks for passing on your simple way with beans - that's my favourite way of preparing everything ;-) lol will give them a try.

Onto why this dread of travel occurs, I think there's lots of causes with so many reasons, it's a tough one to answer. I used to love the journey as much as the holiday but now I always end up ill with the stress of it!!?? Crazy I know! I've always suffered with travel sickness too and now end up with migraines on top, there's just no hope for me lol. For me though my biggest prob stems from a long period of suffering with anxiety and depression and over time I stopped going out completely. Once the illness had improved I had to almost start over with learning to go out again never mind going away. Won't go into too much detail (it's boring lol) but think it's now about being in unfamiliar situations/areas & I just don't like the feeling of not knowing where I am!!?? I guess it's all about working around what causes the problem to alleviate the stress as much as possible and stepping outside your comfort zone for the greater good. Keep hoping that the adventurer in me will return one day lol.

Have you spoken with your mum about why she thinks she no longer wants to fly? There could be something small or big that triggered it, know my mother in law became averse to flying as she got older & with her it;s about claustrophobia, she used to go abroad 2-3 times a year but that stopped some years back. Hope your mum finds a solution to the problem anyway whatever it is, although she may just not want to fly :-)
