Good for you for giving up pop! In addition to how it can mess with your blood sugar, sense of satiety and leach calcium from your bones, I just saw a study the other day which linked consumption of soda with depression. The more you can stay away from it, the better!

I love herbal teas, green teas and white tea instead of pop.

I just wanted to give a shout out Thank You for your post on the message board for what do you do for emotional eating regarding Joel Osteen's 'say no to your feelings' video. I think it will really help me in my journey to becoming Dr. Pepper Free.

Hi - recipe for oatmeal banana pancakes:

1/4 c. old fashioned oats, dry
1/2 c. liquid egg whites (or 3 egg whites, or 2 eggs)
1 medium or large banana
cinnamon to taste (I put in a lot, never measure though)
1 tablespoon peanut butter
an additional 1/4 c. oats

Blend everything but the last 1/4 cup of oats in a blender. Once it's blended stir in the remaining 1/4 cup. (Or you can blend everything, but I like to stir half of the oats in so they're not broken up.) Let it sit for 20-30 minutes to thicken up, then cook like regular pancakes. I top mine with sliced strawberries or apples. You can do a lot with this recipe. I love it!

If you need or want any tips or advice on cleaning green, meal planning, or whatever, I'm always here. :) All you have to do is ask.

I'll start with just one tip: decide on one thing you want to change, and then slowly change it. I started with cleaning green a few years ago. I'm not as 'natural' as some people I know. However, I started with liquid hand soap, buying the paraben free, all natural, non-disinfecting kind. I replaced all my hand soaps with new organic ones, and once I got used to that idea, and doing it, and the family was on board, I then switched to kitchen cleaning, like home made cleaning sprays or organic, plant based from Seventh Generation (my all time favorite brand). Then I switched dish soap. I stopped using typical bathroom cleaners. And I recently started making my own laundry soap. No kidding! So, the key is, to start in one area of your cleaning kit, and start replacing things, one at a time until you're comfortable with the switch and the new product.


PS: You can google Seventh Generation and bring up their website, and sign up for monthly news letters about all the good GREEN things going on that Seventh Generation supports, and their products, etc.

Have you ever used it?
SP may have something similar, however at allrecipes, I keep an online recipe box (that I'm slowly converting to SP-for quicker entries), I can create a shopping list (though I usually do this on regular paper - just easier for me I guess), but as a paying member ($22 for two years), I can create meal plans. I just literally click and drag recipes over to my meal plan and print off. I love it, my family loves it and it helps me save money and stick to better health choices. I may not stick religiously to the meal plan, like what I have sched for monday we may have on tuesday, or thursday, and what we were going to have on friday have on monday instead. the point is, to have an idea of what foods we're going to eat over the next two weeks (I shop twice a month for groceries). I also plan a few 'quick meals' like home made pizza, crock pot meals, etc, for the days I just don't feel like a huge meal prep. It seems with cooking with more fresh veggies, I spend a lot of time chopping. :0 I also read somewhere on your page(s), that you're giving up soda. Do some research (if you already haven't) about how BAD soda is for our bodies, even if it is Diet soda, it's still quite unhealthy to consume. I get really tired of water all day. So half the time I use those little packets that are sugar free, that you add to water bottles. However, I'm also anti-water bottle, so I just stir it into a large 16-20 oz cup. There's Crystal Lite brand (however pricey), so I buy the Hawaiian Punch flavors, the Kool-aid singles, and Arizona Ice Tea packets too.
