In 1997, when my wife was pregnant with our first son, I kept up with her weight gain, quite well!
Gained 25 - 30 lbs on my already not too svelte frame.
Joined Weigh Watchers and lost, almost 50 lbs.
I had another 15 - 20 to go, but never made it to goal.
Over the past 10 years, I've been doing okay, but most of those pounds have crept back on.
I have two young boys and an active life planned, so I am not willing to continue this trend!
I know there is a Thin Chris in here! THIS TIME - I AM going to make it to goal and to a healthier me!
My beautiful wife is my inspiration & my biggest fan! With her loving support, the encouragement of my sons and Spark... I'M GOING TO DO IT!

My Goals:
1. Improve my health: Lower my BP, Chol., get & keep my weight below 190 lbs.
2. Get back into enjoying running .
3. Continue to encourage and challenge my boys in healthy physical activities.
4. Make my boys, my wife and myself proud of my success.
5. Live a long, active, happy and healthy life with Paula.


My Program:
Run: 3-4 times a week, 15 - 25 miles per week & train for a 1/2 & full Marathon.
Weight lift: 3 times a week, to get stronger and firmer.
Hike/Bike, and do other physical healthy activities with my family, at least twice a month.
Track daily calorie intake/consitantly keep a food and exercise log.
Have fun with my wife & boys every day!
Live to be the old guy about whom everyone says; "He sure looks good for his age."



Personal Information:
I'm 52 and live in Everett, Washington.
I am extremely fortunate to have a wonderful, loving and "hot" wife, PAULATURNING50, who supports me in all of my life and health endeavors. And, who seems to want me to stick around.
I have two healthy, intelligent, terrific, talented, challenging boys, ages 10 & 12, who want me to lead the way or at least keep up with them.
I play the trumpet in a Brass Quintet.
I enjoy music, especially jazz, reading, hiking, running, traveling and playing with my family.
I am a veteran... have a MA in Psy & work in corrections.


Other Information:
I'm over 50 and have not been my "ideal" weight for way too long! I am at the age where my weight is affecting my health and lifestyle. So, it's time to get serious!
I enjoy running in organized runs. Plan to do a few runs this year.
I like science fiction (Star Trek, SG1), travel and smooching with my wife!

    Hey Chris, It has been a while hasn't it. Sorry. Life has a way of sweeping one away. Been very busy, but have still be working out, ah... I did fall off the wagon for a couple of months, but back at it. Now my son (26yo) is working out with me at the gym. So, I will try to ease back in, but the daily signons, updating stats, blogs, probably not. I'm just too busy now, which is better than having too much time on my hands. Hope you are doing well and powering through towards your goal before going into maint mode. Take care and will touch bases from time to time. Bobby

    Hey Chris, I just ended up missing a run and wanted to push myself a little so 40 in 5 is my goal. and good luck on your HM, they are ling enough to make you wish you stayed home. and if getting in shape is a goal the X will get you there, I have been through it 3 times, and it works.

    Thanks for the encouragement and goodie Chris. I was actually on here almost two years ago and actually got a good roll going. I started feeling better and not sure how or when, but I just stopped checking in and tracking my progress. Next thing I know I'm heavier than I was the last time...

    Plan to take it much further this time. (and hopefully keep it off)

    Good luck with your running and keeping up with the kids. That's the important part.
