I am a mom of 5 and the wife of 1 :p. I didn't struggle with my weight until adulthood. I didn't practice very good eating habits though. My dad was diagnosed with diabetes and that was the first time I ever gave proper nutrition a thought. He passed away when he was only 39 and that is something I never want my children to have to go through with me. I have found that over the years, I would feel the need to finish my kids' plates for them in order to keep from wasting food. I vow not to do that anymore. I want to be more active and healthier. my goal is not to become a super model but to be a better role model to my kids when it comes to healthy eating and exercise.

My Goals:
losing weight, but not just for the numbers. i want to be healthy and active and not embarrassed to stand in front of people for fear of how they see me. I know they are not as hard on me as I am. I want to be a role model for my children on what it means to live right not just in a spiritual sense but in the physical sense as well.


My Program:
Until I can control my addiction to sugar, I have cut them out or down...nothing I eat in one setting can have more than 8 grams of sugar (not counting lactose). If i absolutely want something and can't convince myself that I don't need it, then i will eat it in moderation. I have swapped white breads with wheat. I am drinking more water and leaving the soda and sweet tea on the shelf.

i have been writing poetry since elementary school and haven't written much in the past couple of years. I am hoping to be able to reconnect with the spark i once had for writing.

    As to sugar: I try now to cook mainly with natural ingredients instead of buying ready to eat stuff

    I can really relate to finishing off the children's plates so as not to waste food.
    My children are grown now, but i did that plenty, myself.

    Thanks for the concern. I'm sure if the car had hit me, I would definitely be in the hospital and they would definitely be in prison. I'll be fine with a little TLC from my sisters and some rest. Thanks again.

    Lol I am on the same page on the elliptical, it is so damn hard! I used to do 5 min lol. But I am not mentally prepared for that challenge (or physically :P) Good Job on doing 10 mins! :D and thanks for your comment!

    So it's TRUE! There is a week out of the month when your body just holds onto it before letting it go! I knew there had to be a reason why the scale sometimes just didn't budge and then all of the sudden shows 2-3 pounds lighter. :P Silly scales! I'm one of those rare people that don't seem to see it in my clothes. I guess I buy such comfy clothes that they're never tight or loose. Or I haven't trekked on long enough to GET to "loose". This time is different. THIS is my time. And I won't fail this time.
