Christy's "Get Healthy" Page!

I turned 29 (for the third time) in September. I'm really noticing that I'm not as lean and fit as I used to be. I get tired easier, and I'm not as strong as I used to be. I want to make sure I nip it in the bud before it becomes anymore difficult to battle. I also have fibromyalgia and I know that my diet and exercise directly affect my symptoms. I NEED to treat my body better so it will treat me better!

I want to make sure I nip it in the bud before it becomes anymore difficult to battle. I also have fibromyalgia and I know that my diet and exercise directly affect my symptoms. I NEED to treat my body better so it will treat me better!

My hansom hubby, Jordan, is a big guy, 6'5" and around 250lbs. He's broad and stocky and carries his weight well - that's not my concern. However, high BP, high cholesterol, diabetes and heart disease run in his family. I have to get him away from the 5+ cheeseburger a week habit. Plus, our goals will be much more attainable if we have support from each other - and if we aren't sabotaged by joining in on the other's habits!

Our dog, Madison will be 12 in the spring. A couple of years ago, we upgraded her pet food to focus on senior nutrition, and have become friendly with the vet every time she moans or groans. But we need to improve her exercise levels - drastically! With our extremely long work days, she is becoming sedentary and we want her around for a VERY long time!

My Goals:
My goal is to get healthy and tone up! A slight weight loss would be great too, but my biggest concern is living a healthier lifestyle. Well, and I'd like to tone my arms, abs, butt and thighs.

My Program:
Okay, for starters, I've nixed soda. Now, I'm working on limiting my absolute favorite treat: southern style sweet tea. I know I can't give it up, but drink at least one a day, sometimes two or three. I'm trying to limit myself and gradually work into one or two a week. I've tried to cut out desserts and junk food and I'm doing pretty well. I'm also trying to make healthy choices at the fast food joints my husband insists on. Trade the Big Mac for a grilled Snack Wrap, skip the fries, etc...
Working out has always been a struggle for me. I don't foresee that desire changing. I don't really envision myself doing a thousand crunches and a high power cardio workout. I think I'm going to start with some stretching in my office, some walking in the office and around our neighborhood and some time on the exercise bike.

Hi Christy, Im a new member today and your story sounds kinda like mine, Im 32 this year over weight, battling fibromyalgia without treatment, migraines it just seems like im drowning with so many things that starting a weight loss seems really impossible. But you know the irony about it is that I LOVE myself despite all my imperfections...... But anyway thanks for yr story emoticon

Hi! Just stopped by and saw your post about the breakfast. I have FMS myself too. I just found that out recently. I'm learning about what to eat or not so my FMS won't flares. Argh! Best of luck on your journey.
